FOX NEWS PROPOSITIONS PAGES! EATS LIVE BABIES!
Mark FoleyMy bad! I meant to say it was the disgraced Mark Foley who did said propositioning. (And it was my nephew's hamster that ate the hamster babies.) But I'm sure Fox News understands how these things happen. After all, in the past week, the propaganda, er, news network has repeatedly mislabeled Mark Foley, Dennis Hastert and other Republican figures involved in the Foley scandal as Democrats. But it's understandable as it's hard work keeping it straight which party is involved here since they're all Republicans.

It's been a fascinating/horrifying week to see how homophobia has played out on the networks during the scandal. I was particularly disappointed when both CNN and NPR invited spokesdemons from the Concerned Women of America to speak on their programs. The CWA is so virulently homophobic that giving them a platform is akin to letting the KKK speak on racial issues. Perhaps you think I exaggerate? Both spokesdemons had the same talking point: That Mark Foley proves there are some kinds of diversity we shouldn't celebrate.

Because you know pedophilia and internet predation is just the kind of diversity and acceptance the gay community is pushing for after all. As opposed to the all-American, Republican tradition of protecting pedophiles to hang onto political power at all costs. The worst part was that neither CNN nor NPR called the CWA on their homophobic BS about tolerating diversity. I expect that from FOX, but not these guys.

Speaking of FOX and homophobia (which go together like love and marriage, horse and carriage, peanut butter and jelly), the Rupert Murdoch owned New York Post published this cartoon about the scandal. (Thanks to Queerty for bringing it to our attention.)

It's absolutely staggering in its homophobia, including as it does lisping, limp-wrists, light in the loafers, and the piece-de-resistance, a hamster cage. Somebody should get fired over this.

FOR BOYS WHO LIKE BOYS WHO LIKE JOYSTICKS
That's actually the motto of GayGamer.net, a website that came to my attention this week for this little video, 7 Reasons Why Dead Rising Is So Gay. The video is a humorous look at a rather disturbing video game wherein people get offed in a variety of unpleasant methods. Wait, that describes 90% of video games, doesn't it? A fellow going by the moniker of Fruit Brute put together the video after detecting a little queerness in the game. To be honest, if it wasn't done by a gay guy, it would seem a little homophobic. GayGamer also has this video that forces me to wonder if the internet is a good thing or a bad thing.
