FOR YOUR VIEWING PLEASURE
I personally didn't care for last Sunday's episode of Brothers and Sisters. And the “twist” of Tommy asking Kevin for his sperm was one just about everyone saw coming. I'm hoping that will be the end of that storyline. (Our B&S recapper Dennis said the episode should've been called “Brother, Can I Borrow Some Sperm?”) The episode struck me as too contrived for my taste, especially Justin 's speech about wanting to donate his sperm because he let a man die in Afghanistan and he “owed” a life. Um, okay, Justin.

That said, the show again gets high marks for treating Kevin and Scotty's relationship with the same frankness as everyone else's. The plot centered around the Walker 's sneaking off to the family ranch for a little private time and the show made no bones about the fact that Scotty and Kevin had the same romantic intentions as everyone else. BTW, after Scotty stormed away from the ranch, I'm more convinced than ever that his relationship with Kevin is doomed. No doubt the writers have something else in store for Kevin, so fret not.

Spike TV premieres their new season of MXC, their show that dubs wacky Japanese game shows with English voiceovers, on Friday night. The first episode pits the Religious Right against Gay Rights. Entertainment Weekly says it's not exactly politically correct but is funny as all get out. Call it Borat 2. Openly gay Carlos won the Quickfire challenge on Top Chef giving him immunity from elimination. We haven't seen much of him so far so it was a nice change. Tune in next week to see if he can make it two in a row.

***SURVIVOR SPOILER ALERT***
What the *!@% & was our boy Brad thinking last night? He was already on the outs after last week's fiasco, and then he kept going on about every man for himself and not trusting other folks. The lame- Raro's lost both challenges again and at tribal council Brad told all present he didn't trust any of them. Then he removed his shirt and revealed a giant bull's eye on his back. Even my ninety-five year old grandmother knew Brad was going home and she's been dead for ten years. We had such high hopes for you, Brad. Sigh.

In other news, here! TV's Dante's Cove got the go ahead for its third season. That makes it the first gay show to reach that milestone. Jai Rodriguez may not have won Celebrity Duets, but he's got a new hosting gig. He'll be showing viewers around Miami on Styleyes Miami which visits bars, restaurants, and local couture fashion shows. Si TV outbid PBS for rights to the show. (Yes, I'm kidding!) GLAAD reports the Scissor Sisters are such huge fans of the soap opera Passions they are going to actually guest on it.

I thought last Sunday's episode of Desperate Housewives was the best in a long time. No, it didn't feature Andrew, but we can't have everything. Ask Ausiello reports that Arthur, Lynette's new acquaintance from the hostage situation is going to turn out to have a secret in his basement that is less Alfre Woodward than it is Mark Foley. Uh-oh. That sounds unpleasant.

Speaking of Sunday night, David and Mary, the coalminer and his wife from Kentucky finished last on this week's The Amazing Race. The couple had become seemingly unlikely fast friends with the openly gay Tom and Terry. In fact, they are such good friends now that on a recent visit to New York, Mary, David, and their three kids stayed with Terry for two nights. Just this afternoon I got to interview David and Mary who are probably the two nicest people I've ever had the privilege to interview. Check the blog on Monday to see what they had to say about us ‘mos!

One last TV note, our poll last week concerned whether or not Isaiah Washington got off too easy for calling fellow cast-member TR Knight a “little faggot”. Over 80% said he did. Hopefully, karma reads AfterElton and will rectify the situation.

At the box office this week there is nothing of queer interest in wide release, but both For Your Consideration and Candy open in limited release. Consideration stars gay-fave Catherine O'Hara, has Parker Posey playing a lesbian, and was made by Christopher Guest. The film opens in Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, New York, Portland, Seattle, San Francisco, and Washington DC on Nov 17th and everywhere else on the 22nd. Candy stars Heath Ledger as heroin addict and opens in limited release on the 17th as well.

There is a fair bit on DVD this week. Out on Tuesday is Poster Boy about the gay son of a homophobic, rightwing politician. Pretty good time for that to be released, eh? Brothers of the Head is the faux-documentary about the sexually ambiguous conjoined twins who become rock stars. Open Cam is a gay murder mystery. Too Cool For Christmas is an odd little family flick filmed with two versions. In Too Cool For Christmas the parents are a gay couple, but in another version there is a mom and dad instead. (I suspect that is the version Hattie from Studio 60 would pick.) Also out is Ian McKellen's The Da Vinci Code and Strangers with Candy: The Movie.

Strand Releasing is releasing a boxed DVD set of all of the Boy's Life shorts in one set. Check back next week for or look at the whole shebang. Also out is a little independent flick called Angora Ranch which looks like a sweet romantic comedy.

If the election left you in a political mood and you're looking for something political to read, Queerty has the scoop on Brainless, a new book by Joseph Maguire that debunks some of Anne Coulter's more virulent homophobic rants. You can read an interview with Joseph here.

Now I'll shut up so you can have the BEST.GAY.WEEK.EVER!

That's it for this week! Check back next Friday for a new installment of Best. Gay. Week. Ever., or read previous installments here.
