FOR YOUR VIEWING PLEASURE
Maybe it's just nostalgia, or maybe the producers of Will and Grace coughed up dough to hire some real writers, but the past couple of episodes have harkened back to the show's early days. It's nice to see the it might be going out on a high note. Oh, and it doesn't hurt to have Bobby Cannavale back as Will's love interest. They even kissed last night, not that I replayed it over and over on my TIVO until Jake started to look just a little bit annoyed. Next week gets even better when we get Bernadette Peters and Josh Lucas. No word on who they kiss, if anybody, but my TIVO is set to go.

Speaking of gay kisses, That 70's Show finally gave us the long promised gay Brady episode when Barry Williams and Christopher Knight played a nice, suburban gay couple. They also exchanged a quick peck and made the obligatory joke about having once had to pretend they were brothers.

Tonight's Doctor Who brings us a character we can only wish Star Trek had the warp-drive to do. The Brit sci-fi cult fave introduces the bisexual Captain Jack played by John Barrowman, the British actor who also happens to be gay. Captain Jack is neither evil, murderous, nor promiscuous. Hmm, makes me think the Brits don't understand what bisexuality is all about. What, haven't they ever seen Basic Instinct? Check out own in depth interview with John Barrowman.

Much to most viewers' surprise, Gay Dave made it through to the final three on Top Chef. Regular viewers, unimpressed by Dave's use of truffle, might be forgiven for referring to Dave as The Weakest Link. But at least the gays are again well represented in the finals of one of Bravo's reality shows. Hats off to the network for not only matter-of-factly including us gay folks, but for creating episodes like last week's including a commitment ceremony.

If you wonder how Bravo's Top Chef compares to FOX's Unan1mous, one measure can be found by checking out the forums on Televisionwithoutpity.com. There are several hundred pages of comments for Top Chef while Unan1mous rates...thirteen. And it's mostly rants about how people hate the show. But fear not—next Wednesday marks the show's final episode!

It looks like The War of the Van De Kamps on Desperate Housewives isn't over after all. You might recall several weeks ago it looked like Bree and Andrew had come to a truce, if not outright understanding. Frankly, I was glad as I'd had enough of evil Andrew. Well, it looks like I might have rejoiced too soon. I've heard different accounts of what unfolds Sunday night and none of them are pretty. Here's hoping no one ends up dead.

And rising from the dead is Kathy Griffin who, for some unfathomable reason, got sacked from strutting her stuff for E! on the red carpet at this year's Academy Awards. If you're one of Kathy's best gays, you need not fret as Kathy's My Life on the D-List is not only filming a second season, but Kathy pops up on Bravo Tuesday night in her stand-up special, Strong Black Woman. I can hardly wait. Gaiken, on the other hand, probably isn't so thrilled.

And Logo's great new blog, NewNowNext says ABC is casting a Real World type show set on...Fire Island. It's not that Fire Island is that unusual a locale, it's that the ABC press release doesn't mention anything about gays being part of the show. How is that even possible? No gays on a show set on Fire Island is like a summer action movie without homophobic jokes. Or is that the problem?

THIS WEEK ON DVD AND CD
Check out The Family Stone directed by the openly gay Thomas Bezucha and with a subplot about a nice gay couple. But first here is our review. And finally Stephen Merritt has a very interesting album out called Showtunes. Best known for his work for Magnetic Fields, Stephen's new album is, well, different. The title conjures up something Broadway-esque, but delivers something more Great Square-ish, as in China. Showtunes consists of twenty-six songs, mostly from two Chinese plays. I'm not quite sure what to make of it, but if you're in the mood for something different give it a whirl.

That's it for this week! Check back next Friday for a new installment of Best. Gay. Week. Ever., or read previous installments here.
