ANT CRAWLS ACROSS AMERICA
On Monday, Logo (get it now!) launches U.S. of Ant, a new six-part reality series starring openly gay comedian Ant (VH1's Celebrity Fit Club). Frankly, television needs another reality show like the U.S. of A needs another war in the Middle East. However, I watched the premiere and was very pleasantly surprised. The six-part series follows Ant as he travels the country looking for the sort of GLBT stories we don't usually see. Ant himself was engaging and the folks he met were fun and interesting.

Best of all the show mostly avoided that condescending tone so often found when sophisticated urban gays go to meet their poor bumpkin gay cousins. Ant airs Monday nights.

Ant especially looked good in comparison to a similar show on HBO called Dane Cook's Tourgasm. It, too, is a reality show, but one following four straight comedians around the country as they do stand up for thirty days. While Tourgasm has no advertised gay content (unlike Logo!), I was curious to see it because I find Dane Cook kind of cute and wanted to see how homophobic four straight comedians might be. The homophobia wasn't off the scale, consisting mostly of moronic games of “gay chicken” and freaking out when two of the guys accidentally brushed hands. Yes, I'm talking about grown-ups, not twelve year olds. One fellow crawled into bed with a sleeping Dane who didn't freak out. This, of course, was deemed very weird by the guy who crawled into bed with him in the first place.

Sigh.

BRAVO'S OUTZONETV IS UP AND RUNNING
And it's a mighty slick looking site, though not as slick as Bravotv.com which makes a parrot look drab in comparison. Outzone offers a LOT of Kathy Griffin, a variety of blogs, and a “gay of the day”. Now there is thinking outside of the box! One blog I can vouch for wholeheartedly is Dennis Hensley's (you might know him as one of Kathy's gays last season). Dennis is laugh out-loud funny and I'm jealous Bravo hired him before we did. Curse you, Bravo!

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE
Fox's So You Think You Can Dance is done with the auditions and has chosen their twenty finalists whom you can (watch Logo!) check out here. Gosh, what are the odds there is a gay boy or two in there? What will really be most interesting to see is how anyone perceived to be gay is treated by the show. Last season some viewers thought a few of the judge's comments were homophobic. It also seems odd that so few of these reality shows centered on folks performing--American Idol being one--have so few openly gay contestants. Looks like it's not only the military operating under don't ask, don't tell.

HBO's Entourage debuted and, as hoped, Lloyd had a bigger part than last year, and I suspect it's only going to get bigger. Don't forget that Wednesday night Big Brother All Stars unveils the 20 contestants who will vie for your votes to actually get them into the house so they can then get voted out again. Openly gay Marcellas is almost a sure thing to be one of the 20.
