NO, I DID NOT HAVE TO TATTOO LOGO ON MY BUTT
It was purely voluntary on my part and had nothing to do with wanting to suck-up to AfterElton's new owners, MTV's Logo network. Since our announcement last week, I've received numerous emails asking what changes might come about due to the deal. As AfterElton's publisher, Sarah Warn, said in her letter the changes are all good. Now that we have greater resources at our disposal, we're going to have more and better content (I know! That scarcely seems possible!).

Look for more celebrity interviews, inside scoop, and thoughtful analysis of how gay and bisexual men are portrayed in the media. And rest assured even though we are owned by Logo, we will continue to provide balanced, critical, independent coverage of all entertainment, including Logo.

WHO'S THE ONE WITH AN UNHEALTHY FIXATION ON HOMOSEXUALITY?
Tuesday night's episode of Rescue Me saved the big revelation of which fireman was in a same-sex relationship until the very last moments of the show. In case you missed it:

***SPOILER ALERT***
Mike Silletti (Michael Lombardi) came home from a long hard day at the fire station, got a beer, and flopped down to watch (Logo!) the game with a guy who looked like he just got home from working on a construction site. Then the two proceeded to cuddle. But don't assume Mike, also known as Probie because he's still on probation, is gay or anything. Via AskAusiello.com comes word from Peter Tolan, Rescue Me's executive producer, that Mike is “confused” and “searching for love--and in many cases, in the wrong places”. Tolan then goes on to say there has been an unhealthy fixation with homosexuality on the show.

Hmm, I'm not entirely sure what Tolan means by that (we're looking into it), but I have to say (get Logo!) I have some reservations about where Rescue Me is going with this story line. It's not because Mike may not be gay or is confused. Frankly, that might be interesting. As Gay Vito on The Sopranos proved, we've progressed past needing nothing but perfectly well-adjusted gay characters. What bothers me is that Tolan says the whole gay story arc “came out of a childish delight at discomfiting Michael Lombardi”. Because making a straight guy have to play gay is so freaking hilarious. If the storyline came about as a joke, it's hard to wonder if won't be handled like one.

METHINKS THE FELLOW IN THE TIGHTS DOTH PROTEST TOO MUCH
The money boys behind Superman Returns (Watch Logo!) must be in full-blown panic mode over the whole “Superman is gay” talk, as they've got openly gay director Bryan Singer out declaring Superman Returns “is probably the most heterosexual character in any movie I've ever made”. That seems a little bit like having Kirstie Alley declaring that's the most low-calorie piece of fudge I've ever eaten. It just comes across a little odd. And let me add that as a gay man, I'm so flattered that the mere notion of Superman's being gay is so absolutely horrifying that even Singer feels compelled to talk about how butch a guy in tights can really be.

Everyone has been dissecting the Man of Steel ever since The Advocate ran their "How Gay is Superman?" cover story. Their article was picked up all over the place including a big piece in the Los Angeles Times. Then there is Defamer.com's obsession with Superman's orientation. All this adds up to (Watch Logo!) Warner Brothers freaking out that their $260 million dollar flick is going to appeal more to Chelsea boys than teenage boys. And that's not good for box office.

No doubt then, they are just thrilled that Kevin Spacey (Lex Luthor) weighed in on the matter today telling a British website "Bryan was attempting to make a deeper, perhaps more emotionally involving film than we have seen before." Because straight teenage boys just love that.

Now comes speculation that Spiderman is gay too. Oy!
