STAR LIGHT, STAR BRIGHT. SO GLAD YOU'RE GONE TONIGHT
Star Jones-Reynolds handled her departure from The View with her usual grace and tact. In other words, like a bull in a china shop. This week the somewhat homophobic Star abruptly announced during a segment on air-conditioning that she was leaving the show. Thusly miffed, Barbara Walters started wagging her tongue to reporters about how Star's negative numbers were hurting ratings and ABC execs could hardly wait to push her out the door.

I'd like to say it was Star's anti-gay, born-again Christian talk that hurt her image, but it probably had more to do with her endless self-promotion, insatiable greed, and infinite ego. Either way, good riddance, and come on down, Rosie! I'm not sure when Rosie actually steps into Meredith Viera's slot, but I bet five minutes after she does, we'll hear the first complaint that she's too pro-gay, too fat, too loud, or all of the above.

THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY
It's been an interesting couple of weeks sports-wise. The New York media had a field day when the wife of New York Giant's football star Michael Strahan accused her husband of living on the “down low”. The couple are currently enmeshed in an ugly divorce and the soon-to-be ex-Mrs. Strahan thought smearing Michael would be good for her case. So how did Michael handle the situation? Rather than holding a hastily assembled press conference to swear how much he liked those fine, sexy ladies, Michael worked out at a gym in the West Village, went out to dinner with the man he was supposedly seeing on the sly, and told the press he had plenty of gay friends and he was “cool with that.”

Perhaps Michael could have a chat with Chicago White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen, as well as former Chicago Bear's coach Mike Ditka. In case you missed it, Ozzie recently called a sports columnist a “f***ing fag” which only became news because Greg Couch, a Chicago Sun-Times columnist, called him out on it. (Check out our interview with Greg here). Ditka, who briefly toyed with the idea of running for senator as a Republican, had to get his two cents in about the controversy coming to the defense of Ozzie by saying: “ I like Ozzie. I really like the guy. He's real people, he's good for baseball and he's really a nice guy, even though he doesn't always say things that are politically correct. But he says what he thinks. He speaks from the heart. And in this day and age, that can be refreshing when people are honest about what they think and feel.”

Okay, Mike. Here's what I think from my heart: You're an embarrassing Neanderthal that should crawl back under the rock you normally dwell under. You're an ugly man and I'm not talking about how you look on the outside.

YEAH, SURE. IT'S STRAIGHT WOMEN VISTING THESE WEBSITES
So many trends start with gay men, seep into the straight community, and then we get no credit for them (although I'd rather not get credit for straight guys now shaving their entire bodies, thanks). The latest example comes from The Arizona Republic which breathlessly reports that hot soccer players are all the rage among women. Especially popular are photos of professional players whipping off their shirts which women are ogling online.

Puh-leeze! Gay men have been all over this trend, well, probably since the first Olmec scored a goal in 1500 BC, yelled “G-O-O-O-A-L!” and whipped off his cotton tunic. You want pics of hot footy players from all over the world? Go check out Towleroad which has turned it into an art form.
