SPEAKING OF NAKED CELEBRITIES
Playgirl must think Superman Returns' Brandon Routh is terribly concerned by the somewhat disappointing box office for his movie. How else to explain Playgirl's paltry $500,000 offer to Brandon if he poses nude in the magazine? If you ask me, Brandon should've shed his blue tights for a Vanity Fair spread before the movie came out.

BTW, check out this very funny article about two current action movie figures that are having a secret affair. Personally, I suspected it all along.

PERHAPS KATHY GRIFFIN SHOULD POSE NUDE
That might be one way to detract from the bad press she's been scoring of late. First Ms. Griffin hit the gossip pages after her appearance on Larry King Live where she dragged out her dirty laundry by accusing her ex-husband Matt of having stolen from her, an accusation that Matt refuses to dignify. Obviously, there is no way to know who is telling the truth, but it makes for odd television viewing when watching Kathy's Bravo reality show, My Life on the D-List, knowing that the two of them are now divorced while still watching Matt curl Kathy's hair. It's hard not to imagine him suddenly trying to scalp her.

Kathy's press got worse yesterday when Page Six reported that Splash, a New York gay club was mad, mad, mad that Kathy turned down their offer of $5000 to appear there, instead demanding $30,000 plus a $10,000 rider. The bar owners believe that since Kathy talks about her “gays” all the time, she should give something back to the community. Tough call. All I can say is that I won't appear for anything less than a Venti Soy Mocha, no whip, with three shots. Okay, that's a lie. For free publicity, I'll show-up for free. I'll even do it naked.

BECAUSE HOMOPHOBIA IS SO HELPFUL IN STOPPING THE SPREAD OF AIDS
If you were hosting a benefit concert to help stop the spread of HIV/AIDS among young people, naturally your first instinct would be to find the most homophobic acts around, right? Well, maybe you wouldn't, but LIFEbeat, “the music industry's charitable organization for HIV/AIDS prevention,” decided that Beenie Man and TOK, both blatantly homophobic singers, were just the ticket! Enter African-American writer and activist Keith Boykin who quickly organized a protest against the concert.

After much back and forth, LIFEbeat cancelled the concert, citing the possibility of violence. No, not the violence Beenie Man and TOK's lyrics advocate against gay people, but some imagined threat posed by Boykin and other protesting bloggers. Maybe LIFEbeat feared annihilation from swarms of emoticons launched by Boykin and his minions.

Everyone makes mistakes, and LIFEbeat could be forgiven for thinking the inclusion of Beenie Man and TOK would somehow open a dialogue, but to not admit their mistake and instead blame Boykin is just stupid. Three cheers for Keith for calling them out on it.
