FOR YOUR VIEWING PLEASURE
The Apprentice: LA will have a new episode, not that many people seem to care. Carey Sherrell's graceless firing last week didn't help matters among gay fans. Hopefully, the remaining gay contestant, Derek Arteta, will stick around a while longer. In our interview with Carey, he addressed something that really struck me while watching the episode. Donald and Ivanka, and pretty much everyone else practically got the vapors over the “gay” swimsuit, yet nobody batted an eye when the winning team's reward was a visit to the Playboy Mansion where women pranced about in tiny bikinis and Hefner's three girlfriends escorted the apprentices around. Give me an H. Give me a Y. Give me a P-O-C-R-I-S-Y! What's that spell? ABC's handling of the Isaiah Washington affair so far! No, wait. That's just shameful. My bad.

Desperate Housewives is new as well, but given the show's falling numbers, I'm not sure anyone cares so much.

Johnny WeirSunday also marks the start of the US Figure Skating Championships. With any luck (and justice) two-time champ Johnny Weir will win, thereby forcing Mark Lund to eat his words. Then Weir will get drunk and “accidentally” run Lund over with a Zamboni. Now that would deserve a perfect 10!

Monday brings us the return of Heroes with our new, “improved” straight version of Zach! (I hear he's almost as butch as Mark Lund.) Aren't we all thrilled about having Zach back? Yeah, me either. I still like the show, but have to confess part of the reason I'll be tuning in over the next couple of weeks is to see if that I'm right in my prediction that Zach (Thomas Dekker) gets knocked off. Maybe a Zamboni can take care of him, too. It's just a thought.

Monday also gifts us (hey, you come up with a fresh way to say the same thing differently week after week!) with new episodes of Gay, Straight, or Taken? and The Class. Kevin Spacey drops by David Letterman's show Tuesday night.

Tuesday's Dirt continues with its gay storyline involving Grant Show. Check back on the blog Tuesday for a little preview. Wednesday has a new episode of the lunatics, er, castmembers of The Real World. Hopefully, Davis is done trying to get in Brooke's pants. BTW, I realize as editor of the site, I am hardly unbiased, but you have to go read Josh Aterovis' recap of this week's episode. Thursdays are long days here at the AfterElton offices what with blogging, writing articles, arranging interviews, being interviewed, yadda, yadda, but I so look forward to Josh's recap because I know I'll laugh my head off. And if you don't laugh, I'll double your money back.

Thursday's Ellen features Julie Andrews. Maybe a miracle will have occurred and Julie has her voice back (she lost in a botched operation on her throat). Either way, I'll definitely be turning in to see her.

Ugly Betty has a new episode on Thursday night. Could America Ferrera have been anymore charming in her acceptance speech at the Globes? Three cheers for her and the show for their Golden Globe wins. Speaking of Ugly Betty, in a clever bit or promotion, the show is capitalizing on all those Project Runway wannabes by offering viewers the chance to design a dress that will appear on an upcoming episode. I didn't read all the fine print, but I'm pretty sure Tim Gunn is barred from entering. Go here for all the sundry details.

If you're a little more high-minded and cultured than the rest of us, HBO has a new documentary debuting called Friends of God. FoG is directed by Alexandra Pelosi who also filmed the well-received Journeys with George which followed our erstwhile President on the campaign trail. This time around, Pelosi hangs with a bunch of evangelicals, including none other than the now infamous Ted Haggard, pre gay hooker and meth scandals, of course. Visit the AfterElton main page on Wednesday for our chat with Ms. Pelosi.

And I need to make a correction from last week's entry about Paris Barclay. Turns out the pilot for Hate has already been shot, and passed on by Showtime. Paris hopes to revive the idea at some point, and I hope he does. It sounded like a good show. Paris also told me that he is no longer with Cold Case and didn't have anything to do with the "Forever Blue" episode. I assured him the After Elton crack team of Flying Monkeys were already using their powerful jaws to chew off my toes as punishment. But never fear Paris fans, as he is currently working with Dirt and CSI directing episodes for each.

Now I'll shut up so you can have the BEST.GAY.WEEK.EVER!

That's it for this week! Check back next Friday for a new installment of Best. Gay. Week. Ever., or read previous installments here.
