The
Men of Sirius OutQ Radio:
Interviews with John McMullen, Charlie Dyer and Jeremy Hovies
by Robert Urban, May 17, 2005
Satellite
and Internet radio is quickly changing the way the world tunes
in to the airwaves. Sirius Satellite Radio’s over 120 channels include
OutQ, a 24/7 radio station for the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender
community. OutQ’s provocative and entertaining programming offers
news, talk, interviews and music from GLBT recording artists.
As I musical
artist, I’ve had the pleasure of appearing as a guest on several
OutQ shows, which are broadcast from the fabulously futuristic Sirius
studios in New York City’s Rockefeller Center. Here I have the chance
to “reverse roles” and interview three of OutQ’s top
star radio show hosts: John McMullen, Charlie Dyer and Jeremy Hovies.
JOHN
MCMULLEN
John
McMullen has appeared on CNBC’s Bullseye and ABC World News Tonight,
and has been quoted or featured in numerous publications including The
Los Angeles Times, Washington Post, Associated Press, San Francisco Chronicle,
The Wall Street Journal, The Advocate, and Out Magazine.
He was named as one of the Out 100 in 2003 for his role as a media innovator
in creating GLBT radio.

CHARLIE
DYER
Charlie Dyer
has spent more time learning, performing, following and talking about
music than anything else in his life. He was trained in Classical music--voice,
piano and cello--in his youth. As an adult, Charlie has been active in
theatre and chorale music. For six years, he was a member of the internationally-recognized
Seattle Men’s Chorus. Prior to joining Sirius OutQ, Charlie was
the co-founder and vice president/music programming of webcaster GAYBC
Radio Network.

JEREMY
HOVIES
Known to his overnight audience on Sirius OutQ as “J.Ho,”
Jeremy is one of the foremost authorities on GLBT music and artists. His
broad tastes may have been a result of divine intervention from his days
as a church choir boy. His expertise spans pop to punk, from folk to dance.
Hovies previously worked as an associate producer for Sirius OutQ. Before
that, he served as the Music Director and an award-nominated on-air talent
for three years at the GAYBC Radio Network.
