AE: It was a week without eating! Or were you at least making sure you were maintaining your health?
MR: You know, people can say I'm a baby. People can say I'm a diva because I didn't eat and because I took the introduction of slop so badly, but I'm going to own that. I am that person. I am that boy. I am the diva. If I'm not doing The Zone where I have three meals a day delivered to me, then I eat out. I am very particular about my diet. And I didn't see it as being a diva, I saw it as taking a stand.

What was really funny was that there was this undercurrent in the house where people were sort of worried, and I was like, don't say “anorexic” and don't say “manorexic”. You know how much I do for charity work and you know how I am. I take that stuff very seriously. This is not an image that I want of me out there, so I was not doing that as a diet, I wasn't doing that like this is cute, I was doing it because I was pissed.

AE: I just thought you did it because you just really hated the slop!
MR: And I really did hate the slop! [Laughs]

AE: What do you miss most from the outside world?
MR: News. I want to know everything. And I'm not talking about what Jessica Simpson is wearing, blah blah blah. I want to know how my stocks are doing. I want to know what's going on with the war. And of course I want to know if Nick and Jessica are getting back together and who's getting divorced. I want to know how Katie Couric did on CBS News. I am a citizen of the world. I'm nosy and I miss feeling plugged in! I miss reading blogs and I miss posting at blogs, and I miss feeling like I know something other than this game.

AE: With sequester you're out of the game. Part of the game is to keep you away from the outside world, but once you're in sequester the only reason for sequester is to keep you uninformed of what's going on inside the house. Could they not give you snippets of news?
MR: We can't physically look at newspapers, but it does trickle down, like I heard that Steve Irwin died which was really, really profoundly sad especially since he has two kids. They do try to keep you in the bubble but they can't keep you in that much of a bubble, and it's not necessary. You do know things.

AE: And obviously you knew about the hurricane because they had to move you!
MR: Exactly! I did know about the hurricane!

AE: How nerve-wracking was that?
MR: You know, I packed in like ten minutes. I hated Mexico. It was ants, moths, mosquitoes and cockroaches bigger than any I have ever seen in my entire life. Yes, the house was beautiful. Yes, Mexico is a beautiful country. Yes, the people that we interacted with on any level there were very kind. But I hated Mexico.

AE: If I can quote you, it was your “own personal hell.”
MR: [Laughs]

AE: That actually answers a question I had, whether it was the location or sequester itself. You answered about the location, but you didn't really want to be in sequester, did you?
MR: I thought I was going to go week three or week four.

AE: Or win it.
MR: Or win it. I thought I was either going to go out early because they were like “enough”, or find the reserves to make it to the end.

AE: And then you're the first person in sequester, so you're going to be there the longest.
MR: I couldn't believe that, I was like NOOOOO!

AE: You didn't even get your week to yourself!
MR: Talk about being cheated! I was completely cheated! Not only do I not get my week to myself, but the one person I never wanted to see again [Howie] is the first person to come through the door THE NEXT DAY! I was just like, God, what did I do? Can you tell me what I did, 'cause if you tell me what I did I will atone for it! I will go to church, get on my knees, do some Hail Marys, and I will make it up to you! I swear, but please stop punishing me!
