AE: So, what's up next for you? Do you have any projects lined up for the summer after Brothers & Sisters goes on hiatus?
MR: [Laughs.] Unfortunately no, because the dates moved a lot and things have changed.

AE: Because of the two extra episodes, did you have to drop out of something?
MR: Not drop out, but I started auditioning for a couple of projects that were shooting at home but couldn't take because we were pushed a further three weeks.

AE: Where exactly is home these days? I know you lived in London for awhile. Is that still your home or have you relocated out to L.A. now?
MR: I've pretty much relocated here, though I still call Wales “home.”

AE: Well, what do you think of Los Angeles? Are you enjoying L.A.? Have you found any good pubs to hang out at?
MR: I have. [Laughs.] Unfortunately I've found a few too many. I'm having a fantastic time. I've made some fantastic American friends, and there's a lot of expats out here as well, so I don't hunger for any slice of home, really. I've embraced the Southern California way of life.

AE: OK, I have to try one more time. I know that you don't know where your story line's going beyond a couple of episodes, but it seems as if your next relationship after Chad is going to be the senator's brother. Is that right?
MR: They've sort of hinted at that to me. I'm sure there will be a meeting [between the two characters] of some sort.

AE: Yeah, there was a lot of conjecture they were going to pair you with Rob Lowe.
MR: [Laughs.]

AE: Or maybe Rob Lowe would show up as the senator's identical twin brother.
MR: [Laughs.] Yeah, that would boost ratings.

AE: Any parting comments for your gay fans? You have a lot of them.
MR: Thanks for the overwhelming support! Some of the letters we get are fantastic. You know, I get letters from young men in slightly more remote or rural towns telling me how much the character helps them.

AE: That's great! Do you also get some hate mail along those lines, or is it mostly positive?
MR: No. Because I think they are careful about what they show me. If there is hate mail, we'd never get to see it, because they've readers to trash that sort of rubbish straightaway.

AE: That's good. Well, I know that you are filming today. What episode are you guys working on right now?
MR: We're on the 16th episode.

AE: Matthew, I really appreciate you taking the time to speak with us.
MR: Not at all.

AE: I don't know if you ever get a chance to check out our site.
MR: No, we did, we did! Because the boys from the office ran down very excited to see we'd won an award [the AfterElton.com Visibility Award].

AE: Well I think you guys got robbed on the Golden Globes. I think you should've gotten nominated. But let's hope for next year.
MR: Let's hope.
