Ask the Flying Monkey! (April 27, 2009)

Have a question about gay male entertainment? Ask the Monkey! (Please include your city and state and/or country.)

Q: I am obsessed with Davis Mallory from The Real World: Denver. In the newest Real World/Road Rules Challenge: The Duel 2, Davis and Ryan Kehoe hit it off in the first episode. I was wondering if they are still a couple after the show finished production. Also what happened to P.J. who was Davis's boyfriend on The Real World: Denver? They were so cute together! – Mitchell, Detroit, Michigan

Davis Mallory

A: “Ryan and I weren't a couple on the Duel, nor have we ever been,” Davis tells AfterElton.com “We just made out the first night of taping. Nothing romantic happened after that night, it just turned into a friendship. I actually lived with him for a month this year when I was apartment hunting in NYC, and we remain close friends to this date. I'm glad we both did the Duel to get to know each other, as he's a great guy, and I hadn't made a close friend with any of the gay Real World/Road Rulers until I met Ryan.”

What of P.J? “He and I broke up about a month after filming The Real World Denver,” Davis says. “I went down to visit him in Argentina where he was studying abroad. I had booked a two-week trip, but we broke up before the trip was over. It was a bit awkward the final days on the trip. When he returned to the states after finishing his study abroad, we tried getting back together at one point, but the relationship just wasn't the same. P.J. and I are friends now.”

Davis currently lives in Chicago with his new boyfriend, Matt, an aspiring actor. “We met after I finished filming The Real World: Denver and have been friends for over two years and started dating this year,” Davis says. “We plan on moving to Los Angeles in the next few months.

Q: I watched (and loved) the clip posted on AfterElton.com of the adorable Jason Tam in Every Little Step. His audition was great and very powerful. I was wondering if the wonderful Flying Monkey knew whether he was out or not. -- Jamie, Canada

A: Jason, who grew up in Hawaii, is not just an accomplished dancer (appearing in Les Miserables on Broadway and in many other roles); he’s also an actor, with reoccurring roles on The N’s Beyond the Break and, most recently, on One Life to Live.

But according to a publicist for the movie, Jason is straight.
