Q: Has Stevie Nicks ever attended The Night of a Thousand Stevies? If not, will she? – Rhiannon, New York, NY

A: The Night of a Thousand Stevies is, of course, the annual tribute to Stevie Nicks (which, as I’m sure you know, Rhiannon, took place this last weekend at the Highline Ballroom in New York City). As always, it involved Stevie music, Stevie impersonators, and the ever-popular tambourine toss. In the words of the promoters, it was “a riot of shawls, lace, baby's breath, twirling, tambourines and great performance.”

In fact, Stevie has been invited every year since the event began in 1990, but she has never “officially” attended. Has the always-iconic Gold Dust Woman ever gone incognito, to check things out, but to avoid being mobbed? Attendees swear she came to last year’s event and blended in by dressing as just another Stevie. But given that the whole point of the event is for attendees to imitate Stevie, it’s very possible that these witnesses were mistaken.

Among the other rumors? That the Bella Donna has sent people to videotape the event for her.

Through a publicist, the Flying Monkey asked Stevie for a definitive answer, but the Street Angel, mystery woman that she is, declined to respond.

In a way, this is all moot. Of course the incomparable Gypsy That She Was was at this weekend’s Night of a Thousand Stevies, and every one before it, because she exists, like God, in all places and at all times.

The real Witchy Woman

Q: I notice that Jake Nodar was mentioned as the first out celebrity on the Discovery channel. I figured that the two major characters of Mythbusters would have already qualified. The main guy, Jamie, once featured a show inside the Castro Street clothing store All American Boy. Are any of the characters of that show out? -- Sam

A: Nope. Grant, Jamie, Adam, and Tory are all straight.
