Ask the Flying Monkey! (July 20, 2009)

Q: I am a big fan of the modern day “bromance.” I'm addicted to all sorts of pairings, from Supernatural to House to Merlin, I was wondering if there are any other well written shows which have a prominent “bromances” (or actual romance -- I don't mind) that you think are worth checking out. -- Maru, Sydney Australia

A: A couple more shows you might enjoy: How I Met Your Mother, Entourage, and the show people seem to either love or hate, Scrubs (I love it).

Incidentally, Scrubs, which was once thought to be canceled, is coming back next year as a mid-season replacement, although Zach Braff’s involvement seems to be minimal.

The Flying Monkey was also a fan of the now-canceled My Name is Earl, about a couple of brothers who are as close as Sam and Dean in Supernatural (although not nearly as pretty). And there’s also Hiro and Ando on Heroes, and Tim and Jason on Friday Night Lights, although I stopped watching both shows ages ago, so can’t vouch for their quality.

Finally, Captain Jack and Ianto are back together on the third season of Torchwood, airing this week on BBC America.

Q: I was reading online that Big Brother 5 winner Drew Daniel came out of the closet two years after winning Big Brother. I don't find a lot on the internet about it. Can you confirm -- is he one of us? Please say yes. -- Greg ,Tampa, FL

A: The Flying Monkey is sorry to be a bearer of bad news, but no. That was an Internet hoax: someone posted that he was gay on the CBS wiki, but it was a lie.

You know what they say about a lie: it’s halfway around the world before the truth even has its pants on. Well, consider this the truth’s pants.
