Ask the Flying Monkey (October 7, 2008)Q: I have been listening to this German band called Tokio Hotel for a while now. The question is what is the sexuality of the lead singer, Bill? A: The Flying Monkey is tempted to say have you seen Bill Kaulitz, the flamboyant/androgynous lead singer of Tokio Hotel? Um, yeah, he’s not gay the same way Elton John, David Bowie, Freddie Mercury, Boy George, Jake Shears, Little Richard, Liberace, and Rufus Wainwright weren’t gay or bisexual. But what do you know? Bill responded to recent gay rumors by telling German television flat-out that “No, I’m not gay. I think it would be a waste with all those pretty girls in the front row.” So there you go. Just goes to show you can't judge a book by its cover (or a singer's sexuality by his flamboyance). For the record, the Monkey is not too big on glitz and flamboyance, but even he must admit, Kaulitz’ hair is fantastic!

A: A decision has not yet been reached on whether to release a remastered version of the AIDS classic Parting Glances (though one version is still available on DVD). Meanwhile, the director of The Life of Reilly tells the Monkey that they’re currently negotiating a DVD release for that film, most likely in early 2009.
