Ask the Flying Monkey (December 23, 2008)
Q: Will there be a
second season of Sordid Lives? – Lesa A: Additional seasons for both shows are definitely under consideration at Logo (which owns AfterElton.com), but they haven’t reached a final decision on either one.
Q: Have you seen either I Love You Phillip Morris or The Walker? The mystery to me is what happened to them. They both have wonderful casts that are easy to promote, but the movies got no exposure. Is there monkey business afoot? -- Nancy-boy Drew A: The Walker did have an amazing cast that included Woody Harrelson (as a gay man who escorts rich women), Kristin Scott Thomas, Lauren Bacall, Lily Tomlin, Willem Dafoe, Mary Beth Hurt, and Ned Beatty. What the movie didn’t have was a plot. It totally flopped, but after struggling to stay awake for the whole thing, the Monkey thinks it deserved to.
Lauren Bacall and Woody Harrelson in The Walker As for I Love You, Phillip Morris, which stars Jim Carrey, Oliver Martinez, and Ewan McGregor in sort of a Catch Me If You Can gay love story (based on a true story) where a guy keeps escaping from prison to be with his boyfriend, hasn’t been released yet; it’ll be out in early 2009. The producers begged and pleaded for AfterElton.com to come for a set visit last year, but then when we finally agreed to go, they suddenly changed their minds, disinvited us, and apparently invited The Advocate instead. This does nothing to influence our coverage, of course, but the Monkey was not a fan of the book, and is perhaps Jim Carrey’s biggest “anti-fan. ” So the Monkey’s hopes are not high for this movie either.
