Just curious if there's going to be any more coverage of RuPaul's Drag Race? I've been looking for a recap, but haven't seen anything yet?

On a side-note, only one person comes to mind when I think about why I watch tennis with sucj high enthusiasm... Serena Williams! I don't know about y'all, but I love her if not for the mere fact that she's a strong black diva with one of the craziest fashion sense ever! Oh, and she wins championships too!

Great Job Snicks. I have been waiting for something fun to read all week, and this was definitely it. I also liked the tennis portions. I played in high school and I think one of the reasons I did, other than the wishes of my overbearing mother, was because a lot of tennis players are slim-built not too muscular guys...and it just so happens thats what im into! I'm a die-hard Braves fan. Have been since I was a young sprig growing up in Georgia. So, you can imagine my utter disappointment when the Rocker & Smoltz incidents occurred. Though hardly surprising.

Unfortunately, as much of a fan as I am of the team (and game), the Braves, by way of location, also have the most Deep South fanbase of all the MLB teams. Meaning that they have the most, um, how do I say this political correctly...they have the most "redneck" opinions at times (oh well, I tried). At least, that's my experience, right or wrong.

I subscribe to a Braves fansite, and have gotten myself embroiled in several gay-themed threads on the board. (Yes, I'm out on the board, and try my darnedest to represent, ya'll. But I'm a lone voice talking over all the burps & beer cans.) Don't get me wrong, there are some VERY cool and enlightened posters there (mostly from the North or West Coast areas, I have to admit), but a great number speak openly of their distaste for gays, often removing their internal filter for such a debate. Though they often spew their vitriol quite eloquently. Many are highly educated even, but I guess just the convictions they've grown up with simply cannot allow them to compromise their beliefs with their education. It's frustratingly sad for me.

I will say this. From just a couple years ago, many MANY more of the posters now believe in allowing gay civil unions. Even if they are still staunchly against gay marriage. That's quite the step forward for that fanbase, trust me (small sample size that it is).

This week has had either Olli or Christian interacting with other characters on the show. As the show gets ready to ramp up a story for Olli in March, it shows that Olli & Christian aren't just important only to their own relationship. They are woven into the fabric of the show.

That Olli refers to Carla by her first name (isn't she a baroness?) is important (he's only a mere queer bartender, after all). He's also involved to a degree with Carla's flirtation with his gay lover's gay cousin Stella. I know this isn't AfterEllen, but Carla's champagne with the random lesbian before Stella's surprise arrival, and an unexpected later kiss between the women ... and the upcoming direction of Stella's romantic attentions (SPOILER...MARCH) was good for the community, though not exclusively for the boys.

VL had a very good gay week. I respectfully disagree. :)

Sandra Lee is everything that is wrong with this country. I have to say I became a little more sympathetic when I learned how poor she grew up, but the woman just has to be stopped. It just ain't right. www.thebittersuite.blogspot.com

I dislike actors who are jerks to the GLBT community, but I also dislike actors who are jerks in general...

I swear to God, hand on heart, that no less than 11 completely different people have told me that Jumper was an amazing film that would easily find itself into their Top 10 (though not in so many words). Granted, I've never seen it myself but I can't help but think that all those people could be wrong. Especially considering 3 of those people are the most intelligent people I know.

What did other people think?

Tim Hardaway in still in Miami - he owns a car wash. I try not to be too amused by that. When he came into our store needing to replace a car stereo someone had ripped off I made sure to be as unhelpful as possible once someone told me who he was. I can't help but be amused that after his rant, he's hands on running a car wash to make ends meet these days. And a cheap b*astard too.

Jumper was awful. I bought the BluRay thinking it would have cool special effects, but it was just terrible. Hayden is adorable, but he can't act his way out of a wet paper bag. Push has to be better, since Chris Evans in anything is just better by default.

In Hardaway's defense, he did join one of the best straight and gay organizations that was formed to help gay youth. He didn't have to join that group, and by their own words, he has been an incredible addition. I haven't heard of too many people who share his opinion, who have taken such steps. On the other hand, after his remarks, John Smoltz not only endorsed Ralph Reed, but he also pushed the Braves into sponsoring a series of Christian nights at the ball park. The nights were co-sponsored by Focus on the Family, who decided that it would be okay to distribute pamphlets that denigrated gay people and gave info. about ex gay programs.

I could not agree more about Ina and as for Aunt Sandy (as my friends and I call her)...she IS bat$hit crazy...and a little drunk I'll bet. That's half the fun. It's hilarious to watch how earnestly she will take a boxed sugar cookie mix, add chopped ginger and call it something new and yummy. There's an episode of "Barefoot..." where Ina makes fun of Aunt Sandy's signature term, "Tablescape." It's even more delicious than her peanut butter icing!!! PJ PS...I over-abuse ellipses myself.

I've been reading this blog for a while and enjoying it. Thanks for a great site. Today's column was very funny and really good. It inspired me to register for the site. I especially enjoyed the list of homophobic athletes and the 'where are they nows.' And I gotta check out the Contessa. Thanks a lot. Great work.

Please don't stop recapping Brothers & Sisters episodes that are Kevin/Scotty-lite. After Elton's recaps of those episodes are the ONLY things which make them tolerable. Plus, there's no better fodder for comedy than the trial & tribulations of annoying straight people.

he was a semi-regular on the the early '80s game show "Child's Play",which is showing weekend mornings 10:30 et/7:30 pt on Game Show Network(GSN). Who knew that some 25 years after it ended(It lasted barely a year on CBS from 1982-83)such an adorable kid would grow up to be such a homophobic prick

I haven't written for a while now but felt moved to do so today.... this was extremely entertaining, and I really it. As a matter of fact I enjoyed the reading so much that just by my laughter I had most of my team here in the office trying to read this over my shoulder..... Thank you for the work, it was great! I was never really into sports--wait, does tetherball count?--but I did start to enjoy tennis. I took a class in college, and I watch tennis on TV every now and then. I played baseball and basketball in my fourth, fifth, and sixth grades, but we don't need to talk about that...

Regarding Sandra Lee, I'm not a huge fan. I don't drink alcohol, and it seems as if she has it with or adds it to everything she prepares. "I'm just having a bacon cheeseburger and some wine tonight." "I think I'll spruce up this green salad with a little vodka dressing." "What this hot chocolate needs is a capful of Kahlua!" It's funny 'cause it's sad.

I'm actually not surprised that Matthew Mitcham is lacking sponsors. It's sad and it shouldn't be like that, but still not shocked.. Australia is not known to be a very gay friendly country, most people are really conservative. I wish they would change their minds, his accomplishments should be enough, not who he sleeps with, that's HIS private life and HIS life only.. I don't see how him sleeping with another man can ruin it for the sponsors. Harvey Milk: You gotta give 'em hope.

It could be just me, but when the question of gay athletes comes up I cant help but remember the huge craze that was created on the internet revolving around the "very good friendship" of german soccer stars lukas podolski ad bastian schweinsteiger. It IS a big fantasy on the part of fans, but during the football world cup of 2006 the "german dream team" showed quite a lot of chemistry. The movie made on the german team's road to the finals called "deutschland ein sommemarchen" had a few clips that provided enough reason for fans to coin the term 'schweinski'.The internet is still flooded with fanvids about the duo and communities dedicated to the smallest hints of fondness between the two.I just thought one might stumble upon the subject when doing research on this particular topic :)

This guy needs to keep that spoon and dig himself into the spot of writing this column more often. Except for they youthful tendency to engage in cliche phrases, the humor and spirit here is refreshing. There is no attempt here to 'talk over our heads'. Snicks seems to know we are out there and talks to us as if we were all sitting around a table at our favorite coffeeshop. Bravo, Snicks. Oh, and the fact that he is CUUUUUUUTE has NOTHING to do with it, so no snarky comments, pullleeeeze!

Loved the section on homophobic sports stars and where they are they now. I didn't know that Hardway was running a car wash as his career. And I find it so sad about Mitcham and the lack of sponsors because he is out and proud. You can see why so many gay sports personalities prefer to just stay in the closet. Lets hope in the near future being 'out' won't matter in the least.  

I have to respectfully disagree with you regarding the down arrow for my beloved couple Olli and Christian. Both were featured three times this week and in one of the episodes together at Charlie's resturant. Plus, it looks like they will be involved in future storylines. Sadly not a major one for them just yet, more supporting for Gregor/Louise and Carla/Stella.
