Best. Gay. Week. Ever. (February 27, 2009)

IT'S THE BEST.GAY.WEEK.EVER! BUT IN DESIGNER CLOTHES!
Oh, the irony of having me write a fashion-themed BGWE! Why so ironic? How about because it's 5 PM and I'm currently wearing Target slippers, Target lounge pants and a ratty sweathshirt. Did I mention these are my good clothes?

Not fair! I actually shower every single day! Mostly...

Why the sudden interest in fashion? Well, there was Fashion Week having taken place last week in New York and the Oscars in L.A. on Sunday, but I was really inspired by last week's episode of Ugly Betty which ended with Betty finally "getting" that fashion isn't just about expensive clothes but is actually "art" and about taking what's on the inside emotionally, spiritually, etc. and putting it on the outside. 

 I guess she's feeling wing-y on the inside?

I found that an interesting way to look at fashion and thusly inspired set about to do this fashion-inspired column. But given the fact I am sorely lacking in qualifications, I decided to turn to others more well known for their fashion insight including designer Isaac Mizrahi, Project Runway's Jack Mackenroth, Make Me a Super Model's Ronnie Kroell, as well as blogger Rod McCullom who all agreed to share their opinions, advice, and thoughts on topics including who looked best at the Oscars, who are the best and worst dressed gay celebrities and a whole host of other topics.

WHAT KIND OF FASHIONISTA ARE YOU?
One of things I like best about being a gay man is that since I'm already violating societal rules by digging dudes, I'm pretty much free to be interested in whatever I'm interested. Hence, I'm able to love football and to be really interested in what the women wore to the Oscars. 

Despite stereotypes that gay men are all a bunch of fashion-obsessed queens, we run the gamut from not at all interested to stalking Christian Siriano. But perhaps you're not certain exactly where you fall. No worries as I've created this handy quiz to determine your Fashionista ranking!

Okay, that was fun and all, but I am genuinely curious to know how many of our readers are genuinely interested in fashion, follow trends, and so forth. And for the record, I do actually have some stylish clothes and clean up pretty nice when need be!
