Best. Gay. Week. Ever. (April 24, 2009)

So in last Sunday’s much-discussed episode of Brothers & Sisters, Kevin and Scotty considered having a threeway with Kevin’s oh-so-forward ex, Chad.

I didn’t mind that Kevin and Scotty ultimately decided not to go through with it – that seems to fit their characters, after all.

But I was shocked that the writers managed to do a whole storyline about a gay couple considering whether or not to have a threeway … without ever saying a single interesting thing about a gay couple considering whether or not to have a threeway!

No matter. It’s still enough of an excuse to declare this the “Threeway Edition” of B.G.W.E!

INCEST, “FUN BUDDIES,” AND TEABAGGING, OH MY!
Along with Brothers & Sisters’ potential threeway, the big news last week was when easily-manipulated Fox viewers decided to protest the fact that President Obama has already cut taxes for most taxpayers (while returning the rates for the ultra-rich back to those of the booming 1990s) by throwing “teaparties,” which they referred to as “teabagging.”

Apparently, they didn’t know that “teabagging” is a euphemism for a particular sex act. But thanks to pundits like Rachel Maddow and blogs such as Dailykos.com, they realized their error soon enough.

This is all on top of a recent episode of Supernatural when the fictional Winchesters discussed the concept of “slash fiction” involving brother-on-brother action, and last season’s episode of Greek when they introduced their TV-viewing audience the concept of the “f**kbuddy” to (which they cheekily referred to as “fun buddy”).

For the record, Greek is on the ABC Family network. (And if you haven't already checked out exclusive Calvin/Grant video preview, do it stat!)

A New Kind of Family, indeed.

But what’s going on here? Could things really have changed this much since the mid-1980s, when newspapers actually debated whether to put the words “anal sex” and even “condoms” into print?

Yes, things have changed that much! Who knew Americans were actually capable of hearing about sex without clutching their pearls and rushing for their remote controls?
