Best. Gay. Week. Ever! A "Glee" to Sing About, Defending "Modern Family" and More!
CONSIDER IT THE CONDENSED VERSION OF BGWE!
I've been editing AfterElton.com for nearly five years now and I have to say this has been one of the wildest weeks I've had in a long time, if not ever.
What do you mean this doesn't look like my avatar picture? Try squinting a little. More. More. A little More. Oh, **#% you!
It kicked off Sunday morning when I did a post about Betty White's hosting of Saturday Night Live, and especially about the Scared Straight sketch.
Sunday night not only saw Jordan and Dan Pious winning The Amazing Race, but an episode of The Family Guy that had emails flying in and comments being posted on the site before it had even aired on the west coast. When I realized it was the "Quagmire's Dad" episode, I remembered Seth MacFarlane had mentioned it to me when I interviewed him last January. So after the Monkey and I watched the episode, I dug the interview up while the Monkey shared his take on how the episode handled the transgender aspects. (More on my thoughts later.)
Both the posts on Saturday Night Live and The Family Guy generated a lot of reader feedback.
Actually, opinion was more split than this.
Monday I was setting up an interview with Dan and Jordan, talking with Fox about The Family Guy episode, talking with GLAAD about the same, uploading our Charlie Williams interview (and what a chore it was sorting through all those sexy pics of Charlie) and Tim McAvoy's Brit Bits column. I was also talking with folks at Modern Family about the perception as to how the show was treating Cam and Mitch differently and why I thought it should be addressed (preferrably via us, naturally!) Sure enough, the producers did issue us a statement which I then quickly got up on the site.
Oh, and did I mention this is the week we are preparing all of our Hot 100 coverage?
Charlie Williams pix I studied for a long, long, LONG time.
That means going over the final tallies, starting to write the articles and contacting publicists to get quotes from some of the guys on the list. (Any guesses who gave us their response in the form of a haiku? Think someone very funny!)
Next page! Ramin strikes again!
