Best. Gay. Week. Ever. (June 26, 2009)
FOR YOUR VIEWING PLEASURE!
Josh Duhamel, Shia LaBeouf Also opening is My Sister's Keeper, based on the novel by Jodi Picoult. I was under the impression this was a heavy drama about a girl and her relationship with a younger sister suffering from leukemia. But clearly the presence of Cameron Diaz indicates it must be a comedy. Surely no one would let Diaz "act" again after In Her Shoes? Right? I said, right!
The week's telly kicks off with Virtuality (reviewed here) on Friday night, Ronald D. Moore's sci fi/reality show hybrid on Fox that looks to be D.O.A. And that's really too bad as the show includes what could've been one of the more interesting gay couples to ever grace our screens. Val (Gene Farber) and Manny (Jose Pablo Cantillo) don't get much screentime in the two hour movie, but had the show survived (it potentially still could get picked up) this married couple really would have been groundbreaking and I liked the way Farber and Cantillo played them. Also on Friday is a new episode of Jeffrey and Cole's Casserole on Logo. Saturday's episode of Kings involves Jack's mom (that would be the Queen) having to prevent his being outed as well as protecting David and Michelle's relationship from exposure. Given how the show's treated Jack thus far, expect twenty minutes of Michelle and five minutes of Jack. Also Saturday is the season finale of Groomer Has It on Animal Planet. Part 2 of ABC's Impact airs on Sunday night. While I found it Part 2 a bit of a letdown, if you like science fiction/disaster movies, it's not the worst way to pass the night. Plus it has Benjamin Sadler doing a very hot French accent.
Benjamin Sadler. This picture doesn't do him justice. Merlin airs its third episode Sunday night. Hopefully, it will be an improvement over the very silly second one. Much more promising is the new episode of True Blood. It's called "Scratches" and trust me, it's a very literal title. Lafayette shows up and the ep deals a bit with the ramifications of his recent imprisonment. I love how much I love this complex, morally compromised character. And the best line of the episode comes from fundie Steve Newlin who tells Jason Stackhouse (Ryan Kwanten) that his wife Sarah must really like him because she "Doesn't just whip out her pudding for anyone!" Ha! Next page! Is Hung worth hanging out for? Submitted by on Fri, 2009-06-26 07:43. |
