Best. Gay. Week. Ever. (June 26, 2009)Also Sunday night, HBO kicks off Hung with a special 45 minute episode starring Thomas Jane as Ray Drecker. If you find the first episode to be slow, poky and not very interesting, fear not — the second episode gets much better and three and four are almost as good. There is nothing gay about the show (so far) but I think a show that explores men as sex objects is definitely of interest to our readers. While the title promises something salacious, this is much more the story of a guy trying to do what he can to keep his life together, and it can actually be kind of sweet. The scene below on the right is a perfect example. Yes, the woman is checking out Ray's package, but how they got to that point is much more interesting than where they end up. (But if you are interested in Hung strictly for salacious reasons, viewers do get to see a fair bit of Jane's bum.)
And special props to Jane Adams (Frasier) as Ray's pimp. She's simply marvelous. BTW, can I just point out that this summer on cable we've got True Blood, Nurse Jackie, Weeds and now Hung, all four very interesting, provocative dramas. Meanwhile, the networks are giving us Wipeout (which is admittedly fun, but hardly thought provoking), I Survived a Japanese Game Show, I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here!, and Big Brother 78. Gee, I wonder why the big four are losing viewers? Monday night's Kathy Griffin visits Paris. Yay! Oh, wait, that's Paris Hilton. Boo! Except Kathy will surely have fun with that. Yay! Monday night's Weeds gets dark, Nurse Jackie looks at what's up with Jackie's older daughter and Raising the Bar also deals with issues related to kids. Tuesday is Beautiful People, Better Off Ted, and Julio Iglesias Jr. fans might want to check out ABC's The Superstars which pairs celebs such as Julio with famous atheles such as Jennifer Capriati and Terrell Owens in various athletic competitions.
Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Kristi Leskinen competing to look prettiest... Wednesday night has the aforementioned Wipeout along with I Survived a Japanese Game Show. In case you missed the news, I Survived includes out contestant Bobaloo. Also on Wednesday is The Fashion Show and The Real World: Cancun with out housemate Derek Chavez. And be sure to check the Queerview each day to find out what gay shenanigans are going on the daytime soaps which are suddenly running amok with 'mos. Next page! Matthew Mitcham shows us his favorite position! Submitted by on Fri, 2009-06-26 07:43. |
