Best. Gay. Week. Ever. (June 26, 2009)
BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE! If there aren't any gay goings on in your neck of the woods, Logoonline.com (our parent company) is hosting a Pride Weekend celebration with concert performances by K.D. Lang and the Pet Shop Boys plus you can watch all the episodes of Beautiful People.
Two men kiss at Jerusalem's gay pride parade Speaking of pride, one of the best gay moments of the past year, had to be Matthew Mitcham's gold medal in Beijing. AfterElton.com reader Gilmore tipped me off to a new Aussie sports trivia show called The Squiz. The first episode included Mitcham and according to Gilmore, Matthew was not only adorable but doffed his shirt at one point. Alas, that episode of The Squiz isn't online (Boo!), but while hunting for it, I did find an appearance Matthew made on the Pam Ann Show. Matthew is utterly squeezeable and demonstrates he's quite flexible thanks to all those years of diving. Apparently that isn't something that has gone unnoticed by Matthew's partner Lachlan. For those of you online junkies who love to take advantage of every aspect of the internet, you can now not only follow us on Twitter here, but we've also beefed up our Facebook page to give you another way to access our great content. If you haven't already Friended us, we'd love if you did. But safely, of course! On Monday, we posted our coverage of Broadway Bares. Everyone wanted the names of many of the models and now thanks to Broadway.com we have them. In this clip, Susan Blackwell from [title of show] interviews a whole host of the hotties who performed at the fundaiser. Enjoy! Finally, I'm going to have to end the column on a down note. I'm very sorry to announce that Friday is associate editor Brian Juergen's last day here at AfterElton.com. Brian will be posting an official good-bye tomorrow, but I wanted to use the column to not only wish Brian the best of luck, but to acknowledge his many contributions to the site. His As the World Turns liveblogs are legendary, his "Blood Work" vlogs had real bite and Brian always brought his keen wit to everything he did. He will definitely be missed. Our losing him will mean certain changes to the site which we'll be figuring out as we go along. You'll notice we won't be blogging quite as frequently and the liveblog schedule will be changing as well. With both The Young and the Restless and One Life to Live just begging to be liveblogged, we'd love to do it, but alas we don't have the manpower to do all three shows all the time so will likely reserve liveblogs for the more memorable episodes. We'll also only be posting soap opera clips in Anthony's "Gays of Our Lives" column so be sure to check in on Tuesday for those! We'll keep you posted on other changes and trust you'll bear with us as the site continues to evolve. Now I'll shut up so can have the BEST.GAY.PRIDE.WEEK.EVER! Oh Matthew Mitcham...
I know just how I like my Eggs served!
The Friendly Skies
"Gay couples can now use their married names on passports."
Have you ever flown from the Des Moines Airport? You're lucky if they can get you to Chicago!
Seriously, though, this is pretty cool and something I hadn't even thought of.
Are you serious?
That last bit about Brian leaving isn't just some sort of late April Fool's joke, or something?
So, he won't be Associate Editor anymore, but will he still be a contributor to the site? No Liveblogging? No Blood Work?
I feel like Cindy Lou Who. :(
Brian
Alice in Wonderland
haha
guess AE isn't cool enough for Brian anymore, eh? fine, whatever
nah, jk. what's he going off to do? :-)
Broadway Bares video clip
The "Broadway Bares" clip was pretty funny. Was Allison Janney TRYING to look like a drag queen? (I don't mean that as an insult, even if it seems like one.)
Susan was awesome too, especially when she sampled those guy's butts like she was squeezing grapefruits in a supermarket. To quote from Shakespeare's "Romeo & Juliet", "Oh, to be a glove upon that hand, that I might touch that cheek!"
No Brian?
Don't go there...
WHY....
Brian leave afterelton.com??? and your guys really lucky have a gay pride celebration.(i'm so jealous, and i think your people really have fun.)but this dream never come true in my country.(sigh........)

Best.Idea.EVER.
It was a tough race this week, but according to my scientific-like-poll-thingy of the multiple voices in my head, the best idea of the week goes to Score Underwear and their undress me models. Second place was a gay DWTS.
Good to hear my info on Anderson's mom's erotic book wast true, not false. I really hope you guys don't think we straight gals are ruining sex for you.
Good to see Canada in the news again.
Dude, Jesus would so hang out at gay bars.
Oh, and do you think Matthew Mitcham would consider broadening his horizons and letting me be the the third wheel in his relationship? Pretty please? I promise I won't ruin the sex!
You too can be saved by the blog! www.savedbytheblog14.blogspot.com
I may be straight, but I'm not narrow.
This has probably been mentioned before on this site...
But in reguards to those Baptists...
You know, you'd think a group with such a long history of persecution like the Christians would gladly open their arms to a group that is still treated poorly by society. Especially with Jesus' message of love and acceptance. Oh wait, I forgot its a societal norm to be total douche bags.
"Why blame the dark for being dark? It is far more helpful to ask why the light isn't as bright as it should be." - Rob Bell
History doesn't work that way.
Historically, persecuted groups have been only too happy to throw stones at even more persecuted groups. It's the low man on the totem pole kicking the dog....
You're right...
...even if its completely stupid. -sighs-

Matthew Mitcham
Matthew Mitcham, not only out...
...but more than willing to make it clear that his partner likes him on his back!
That level of self-comfort is to be commended in anyone, especially gold medal Olympic athletes who possess heroic physical prowess and the masculine beauty to go with it.
It's impossible not to adore the man!
Brian
Please please PLEASE tell me your joking...no more ATWT snarky liveblogs or cool TB vblogs?
oh god i think i'm gonna cry.

Distressing Cat Picture
Hey, I'm sorry but that gif of the cat in the microwave makes me kind of uneasy. I know that cats have actually been killed that way before, and it makes me feel sick thinking about it. I mean, death by microwave seems like a pretty horrific way to go.
So could I perhaps request a warning on all subsequent cat-in-microwave related media, please? Sorry for being so sensitive.
