IMHO — THIS WEEK IN GAY TV
Not much gay representation in scripted television this week, but we had a lot of dogs in the hunt in the reality show department.
Big Brother kicked off its 10th season this week and kept to form by ofering up yet another out contestant. Steven is a gay rodeo star from Texas. His background sounds interesting, but he got off to a terrible start. In the very first week (on the 24-hour "live feeds"), he refers to a fellow contestant as "that colored girl." Oh dear. Rodeo star? Try rodeo clown.
As the World Turns. Things have been pretty boring with the boys of late. We've had enough scenes of them just sitting around slurping mocha lattes. It's almost tedious enough to make you miss Ameera (not quite though.) Now that Luke and Noah are back together, at some point the show is going to have to at least imply that they've been intimate. I mean, if the highlight this week was a letter from Luke's estranged biological father, then clearly this storyline is going nowhere.
Verbotene Liebe. Likewise, over on Verbotene Liebe (Forbidden Love) Christian and Olli's
storyline seems to be on the back burner. But the German soap super
couple avoids a down arrow this week for some very cute throwaway
banter. Olli calling Christian "Chrissie?" Priceless!
Also in the plus
column this week: a swimwear modeling shoot featuring our boys and
Christian's brother, Gregor. Oh, all right. The show gets an up arrow for that.
Hollyoaks. On Thursday's episode Kieron finally had the guts to face down Myra. She called him an outcast but he declared his love for her son and said he wasn't ashamed for leaving the church. It was a short but gratifying scene made all the sweeter by a great kiss between JP and Kieron. In public no less!
Design Star. Turns out Mikey V, the handsome former cop from Hollywood, FL, was a member of Team Gay all along and we didn't know it until recently. Sadly, he was sent packing this week. Despite the loss, the show gets an up arrow from me because our favorite Team Gay member, Matt, is still in the running. Love him.

Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List. On this week's episode Kathy went to San Francisco to host a gay bear convention. Say no more! Kathy handles the whole event with her usual aplomb. Favorite Kathy quote: "Hey, I'm not afraid of back hair. I'm not afraid of my own. Why should I be afraid of yours?"
Project Runway premiered on Wednesday with seven contestants on Team Gay. Seven! Okay, so one of them got booted off in the first episode, but that still leaves six and my current favorite piece of gay eye candy, Keith, is still around so all is good. But someone has to yank Blayne out of the tanning bed and also convince Wesley he can't pull off those Little Lord Fauntleroy shorts.
Next page! Mr. Darcy plays for our team.
