Best. Gay. Week. Ever. (August 8, 2008)

BUMPER? I DON'T EVEN KNOW HER!
Moving on to television news (not to mention really bad puns...), something interesting happened in soapland this week when As the World Turns introduced new mid-show "bumpers" (those little character montages that remind you what show you're watching and the storylines from which you're blissfully being spared in this particular episode).

And whaddayaknowit, gay couple Luke and Noah are right there. Touching each other, even! Actually, while we're at it, here:

Anyway, believe it or not, this whole bumper thing is kind of significant. For one thing, the two are clearly shown as a couple, which means that they're present even on days where the boys aren't (which is 4 out of 5). And, given that the show updates these things about as frequently as McDonald's changes the guy in the clown suit, it at least seems to be a vote of confidence on the show's part that the couple will be around a while. (Cue the last bumper, which was a death knell for Gwen and Will.)

Anyway, I didn't find the new bumper quite gay enough, even with the inclusion of Luke and Noah. Lucky for me, some lunatic felt the same way and uploaded a bumper of his own that might be more your speed. Check it out below:

Seriously, I love the fact that the boys finally made it into the promos for the show, I really do. But that doesn't make up for the fact that there's nothing going on for them on the actual soap half the time, including right now. Once a week? Grr.

And seriously, all this abstinence stuff is getting out-of-hand. When they finally do the deed there's going to be a sonic boom and one of them will end up in the hospital, mark my words.
