News, Reviews & Commentary on Gay and Bisexual Men in Entertainment and the Media

Best. Gay. Week. Ever. (October 10, 2008)

FOR YOUR VIEWING PLEASURE
I'm afraid there is nothing specifically of gay interest at the box office this weekend, but nonetheless there are a few flicks of note. If you're a history buff, you might want to check out Keira Knightley in yet another period piece, The Duchess. Knightley plays the Duchess of Devonshire and the film co-stars gay-faves Charlotte Rampling, Ralph Fiennes and Dominic Cooper. It's a measure of Cooper's hotness that he manages to avoid looking totally ridiculous in the clothes and hairstyles of the era.

Leonardo DiCaprio, Dominic Cooper

If you're a little more action oriented, Leonardo DiCaprio is looking all growed up in Body of Lies also starring the corpulent version of Russell Crowe. True Blood's Nelsan Ellis has a small part in the sports movie The Express while hottie Johnathon Schaech's career is so far off the skids he's starring in low-budget horrors such as Quarantine. I bet Johnathon yearns for the days of The Doom Generation when the future looked so bright.

I already said my piece about The Starter Wife, but if you're interested the show debuts Friday night on USA at 9 PM.

My favorite comedian Graham Norton returns to BBC America on Saturday night with the new season of his talk show. Guests this week include The Simpsons' Harry Shearer and Eddie Izzard from The Riches. Also on Saturday night is a new episode of David Bromstad's Color Splash.

Sunday night rivals Thursday for the gayest night of TV. We've got new episodes of True Blood which follows up on last week's shocking death. And, yes, Ryan Kwanten gets nekkid. It wouldn't be True Blood if he didn't. On Sunday night's Brothers & Sisters' Kevin (Matthew Rhys) doesn't get naked (Boo!) but he does turn to an unlikely source for advice on how to handle trouble at work. And he doesn't seem to like the advice he gets. (BTW, we won't have next week's recap up until Wednesday again; we appreciate your patience!)

Sunday also has new episodes of Mad Men, Little Britain USA, Desperate Housewives, Entourage, and the start of Skins' second season.

Monday has a new episode of Logo's (AfterElton.com's parent company) reality show Shirts & Skins, CW's Gossip Girl, TNT's Raising the Bar, and, of course, Lance Bass on Dancing with the Stars

Tuesday is more Lance on DWTS, those barely there gay characters on Privileged and Greek, plus the first part of General Hospital: Night Shift's two-part season finale which includes Chad Allen's last episode.

BTW, here is Chad's kiss on this week's episode.

Not enough? Then we've got new episodes of The Rachel Zoe Project, How to Look Good Naked, Ted Allen's Food Detectives, and The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency.

Wednesday may or may not have Roy show up on Lipstick Jungle, or you can watch The New Adventures of Old Christine, Top Design 2 and, of course, the season finale of Project Runway which better have the Heidi saying Jerrell Scott's elimination this week was really just a dream and that Kenley actually didn't make it to the final three.

Thrusday we've got Ugly Betty, Survivor: Gabon, Tim Gunn's Guide to Style, ER, and The Sarah Silverman Program.

Next page! That shocking Eastenders' kiss!
