Best. Gay. Week. Ever. (October 26, 2007)

WHEN I WAS YOUR AGE I HAD TO WALK THROUGH TEN MILES OF SNOW TO SEE GAY CHARACTERS THIS GOOD
After a quiet week last week on As The World Turns things perked up quite a bit this week, especially on Wednesday. Luke is out of the hospital, but he's still in a wheel chair. He's not doing so well with the physical therapy and Pappy Holden is being protective of his boy getting hurt by Noah. Best of all, Noah came by the farm and confessed his bone-headed come-on to Maddie. Luke was hurt, but the boys came to an understanding and we were treated to this sweet image:

My heart melted when Luke took Noah's hand, wrapped his own around it, and kissed it. Before that he'd been running his hand through Noah's hair and gazing longingly into his eyes. It still amazes me that week after week we're seeing images of Luke and Noah being emotionally intimate with each other and not only is it not a big deal, it's made them the most popular couple on the show. I truly am grateful we've arrived at this point in society — I only wish Jerry Falwell was here to see it.

I think it's amazing that never again will a gay teenager not have a show like this to turn to see themselves portrayed honestly and positively. When I was a kid there was zero, zip, bupkus and trust me, had there been, it would have made a big difference in my life. While things are hardly perfect for gay teens today, no teenager will ever again have to grow up thinking that they are a freak and that there is no one else like them out there. That's some serious progress, folks!

US, SNARKY! WELL, MAYBE ONCE IN A WHILE!
One of the nicest comments posted in reaction to our latest Two Gay Guys vlog was by loneranger who said:

It is refreshing to see a real gay couple who can bicker and be snarky at one another and still have their love for each other shine through.

Here is the clip for you to watch yourself. It's our Halloween edition wherein our Trick-or-Treaters turn out to be much more scary than your usual run-of-the-mill vampires, werewolves, and such. The "snark" loneranger refers to actually shows up in the outtakes at the end.

Filming the vlog can be rather stressful, especially when you have strong-willed people like the two of us working long hours. And when it gets to be late at night and you've done take after take after bloody take, it is possible we might get a little snarky with each other. But I'm glad loneranger saw how we really feel for each other. I often joke about Brent being the "wind beneath my wings" (or vice versa), but I really am the luckiest guy on the planet — despite the occasional snark!
