News, Reviews & Commentary on Gay and Bisexual Men in Entertainment and the Media

Best. Gay. Week. Ever. (December 5, 2008)

Pru Halliwell (Charmed)

Her appeal for gay men: Okay, so the eldest Halliwell sister, Pru, wasn't actually supposed to be a "villain." Still, she was played by Shannen Doherty and that alone gets her inducted into the badass witches club.

Most badass moment: Probably bitch slapping Alyssa Milano between takes.

The Witches of Sex and the City Hocus Pocus

Their appeal for gay men: The casting! Bette Midler,  Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy make up quite possibly the most gay-supportive coven ever.  Talk about F*g Hags! Plus, fun fact, this underrated 1993 film was helmed by Kenny Ortega, who also directed the High School Musical films.

Most badass moment: The ladies crash the stage of the high school's Halloween dance and perform a knockout rendition of "I Put a Spell on You!"

The White Witch (The Chronicles of Narnia)

Her appeal for gay men:  Proves that you can be a witch and still be glamorous. Clearly, she has a crew of talented gay minions doing her hair and make-up. Also, rightly or wrongly she still has the cojones to wear real fur. Someone sign her up for the Blackglama campaign pronto!

Most badass moment:  Chains Aslan to a stone altar and stabs him to death.

Lamia (Stardust)

Her appeal for gay men: We can relate to her ceaseless quest for something to preserve her youth.

Most badass moment: Tries to cut out Claire Dane's heart and eat it. (No doubt with Mary-Louise Parker cheering her on from the sidelines!)

Nancy (Fairuza Balk) in The Craft

Her appeal for gay men: This girl is totally batsh*t crazy, and you never know what she'll do next.

Most badass moment:  Seduces Skeet Ulrich with a glamour, and then pushes him out a window when he won't perform!

Next page! The most badass witch of all! Plus, shooting arrows at this week's TV.
