2007: BEST GAY YEAR EVER!
DECEMBER: A WHOLE NEW MEANING TO "THE BATTLE OF THE BULGE" Anyway, here are few from 2007. David Beckham versus Ryan Barry (aka Reichen Lehmkuhls' boyfriend)
Any pose you can do, I can do better! Well, my bulge is bigger so there! Dominic from The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency.
David Beckham? I could snap him like a twig! Djimon Hounsou for Calvin Klein.
You mean most Oscar nominees don't end up posing in their skivvies? Steven Klein's spread for the C-IN2 brand.
I guess that whole Scared Straight think didn't work out quite as planned. Dolce & Gabbana's Italian soccer player ad.
This is exactly what I imagine professional sports locker rooms are like. Who knew my fantasies were so close to reality! Oh, darn! All the guys in their underwear took up so much room, I don't have any space left to write more witty, insightful observations about the year! Shoot, shoot, shoot! (Note to Brian: Our readers are pretty smart. Will they see through this cheap ploy of trying to distract them with hot, nearly naked men so I don't have to write anything for December? Be sure to get back to me before we make this live!) IMHO — The Year in TV
DECEMBER'S MAN OF THE MONTH: AFTERELTON.COM'S READERS.
HEY, IT WORKED FOR TIME MAGAZINE!
Now I'll shup up so you can have the BEST.GAY.YEAR.EVER! Submitted by on Thu, 2007-12-20 23:02. |

Big Gay Todd! Big Gay Todd! I haven't seen this much scheming, lying, and backstabbing since the last Presidential election. Somehow it's so much more fun on Survivor.
With a new season of American Idol just around the corner will we get more gay-baiting of contestants like poor Sanjaya Malakar or might we finally get an out-and-proud contestant? I ain't holding my breath, that's for sure!

Thanks Michael for
what must have been a very time-consuming exercise. I read every word of your summary, I didn't want to miss any of your digs! Good segue from Cheyenne to Brent, could not agree more.
Overall I thought the year in movies was pretty bad, TV was so-so but getting better, music was good but underplayed on commercial radio, but the best place for gay representation was books which few people read! I just started "Vintage" by Stever Berman and it is pretty amazing, now why can't we get the same imagination in movies and TV?
The best thing about 2007 though happened in the summer when I decided to join AfterElton's readers and started commenting. What a blast I have had. I participate in other gay forums but AE has the funniest, smartest, and frankly most civilized and considerate commentators. You rarely get "flamed" on AE. Keep up the good work and looking forward to 2008.
Cheers

Wow - thanks
What a wonderful, insightful and hilarious review (I had to excuse myself from my desk at work 3 times to laugh)...somwhow you made December my favorite month with those anthropological pictures of Homo hottus in his habitat...hmmmmm.....) anyway...
Awesome job!!! I hooked into AE this year (over the summer) and it is now my favorite read of the day!! Happy Holidays and let's hope for a great 2008.
Thanks so much guys! It was a labor of love, but
That was really great! I especially enjoyed the pics

Nice work, Michael. I can only imagine the torment you put your self through to make this piece.
Can Gay, Straight or Taken? possibly come back on the air? I loved that show.
Ryan Barry won the Armani model contest. Congrats to him.
AfterElton has developed into one of the best gay websites this year. Great job to all those that made it happen. Happy New Year to all!
The Year That Was
Great Synopsis

My only comment: Green Arrow
