Best. Gay. Week. Ever. (February 22, 2008)
FOR YOUR VIEWING PLEASURE This is from Vantage which opens today and has nothing gay in it, though it also features Matthew Fox and that is definitely a plus!
BTW, last week I posted a similar picture and comment about Keanu Reeves from his upcoming movie Street Kings. A number of folks took my snark as being directed personally at Keanu while I mean it as commentary on the fact that while we again had precious little of gay note at the box office (just like this week, FYI), we had yet another action drama with a (presumably) straight hero brandishing a The only gay movie of note opening is Cover which only opens in limited release. Check out Brian's review of it here which also includes comments from director Bill Duke about the whole DL issue. At least the DVD pickings are considerably better. First up we have Peter Dinklage playing gay in the not half-bad British flick Death at a Funeral. Dinklage plays the gold-digging lover of the movie's deceased character and his portrayal is neither politically correct nor offensive because of the character's sexuality. In fact, his being gay is almost entirely incidental and nothing much is made of the fact except for surprise that the deceased had even been gay. Nor does it hurt that the very adorable Alan Tudyk (Firefly) has a rather extended and quite amusing nude scene. Peter Dinklage, Alan Tudyk
Also out is the deeply flawed Beowulf which featured Ray Winstone (below, left) as Beowulf who also had an extended nude scene with all of his naugty bits hilariously obscured by a ridiculous number of unintentionally increasingly silly methods. (Although to be fair, you don't see Alan's goods in Death at a Funeral either.) Finally, we've got Marc Jacobs & Louis Vuitton, a documentary about the out fashion designer, Marc Jacobs, who is the driving force behind the Louis Vuitton name. Think of it as Project Runway without anyone getting "auffed".
Saturday offers up a new episode of Torchwood titled "Adam" which tells us a bit more about Captain Jack's past. I can't say I was wild about it, though it was fun seeing "nerdy" Owen and sexy, confident Tosh who just can't keep a relationship going no matter what. And we do learn some more about Captain Jack's past, but as to the most important issue at hand, no, there are no Janto snogs. But here is Captain Jack watching someone he knows very well.
Speaking of Ianto, our interview with Gareth David-Lloyd went off magnificently and we'll have it for you next week. To tide you over until then here is a funny compilation of Ianto moments set to the tune of "I Feel Pretty".
Since I'm feeling really generous, here is one answer Gareth gave in response to your questions.
