News, Reviews & Commentary on Gay and Bisexual Men in Entertainment and the Media

Best. Gay. Week. Ever. (February 29, 2008)

FOR YOUR VIEWING PLEASURE!
I'm afraid for both theatrical and DVD releases this week, I've got nothing, nothing, and more nothing. But I do have the new Sex and the City trailer. Now I know us gays aren't all into SATC, but I'm a pretty big fan so I think it's fair to post it here. Just to make this more interesting, I'll tell you that the trailer includes not one, but two openly gay men in it. The first is Mario Cantone. No surprise there. But an extra gay gold star if you figure out who the second man is. As a hint, I'll tell you we wrote about their appearance in a relatively recent interview.

This week we've got new episodes of Torchwood on Saturday night (if you missed it, be sure to check out our interview with Ianto himself, Gareth David-Lloyd.

Also on Saturday, Logo (AfterElton.com's parent company) premieres "Dangerous Living: Coming Out in the Developing World" as part of their Real Momentum documentary series.

Oprah's new show The Big Give lands on Sunday night, but if you're only tuning in to see Nate Berkus, you might as well give it a miss. Yes, Nate is the host, but in the screener I watched, the first episode doesn't require much hosting and he has about as many lines as Mario Cantone did in Men in Trees. Hopefully, things will get better next week.

Nate did the show talk rounds appearing on Jimmy Kimmel and The View. When talking with Jimmy, Nate said in reference to the Ben Affleck video, "If you're entering the gay world, which you are, I was going to offer my services for styling and fashion." Nate then went to suggest Jimmy get a leather jacket. Because nothing says "gay" like leather.

Courtney Cox's Dirt is back on Sunday. I hated the first season and the frist two eps of Season 2 are only a marginal improvement. Leo Spiller (Will McCormack) makes a brief, but high impact appearance. Can I just say one thing? Storylines about Paris Hilton and David Hasselhoff? Seriously?

Tuesday's episode of In Treatment on HBO will likely be of interest to folks. I don't want to give too much away, but the pic below figures into the plot, metaphorically anyway.

Wednesday is the finale of Project Runway, which we'll be liveblogging. And check back on Monday for our interview with just aufd Chris March who dishes on Rami and Christian. And if you missed this week's ep, here is the recap.

Thursday has new episodes of Make Me a Supermodel with Ronnie Kroell and Survivor:Micronesia with Chet Welch. BTW, I was re-watching last week's ep and caught this nice little bit of homophobia from Mikey B. explaining to Joel why his strategy was backfiring because he was going to be left with "...four girls and a kid, and Chet is included with the girls." Um who got voted off first, Mikey?

Also on Thursday, Logo presents Beautiful, Margaret Cho's one woman show which she debuted Wendesday in Sydney, Australia. The tour lands in Hawaii on March 6th and I have to say, Ms. Cho knows which places to tour this time of year!
