Best. Gay. Week. Ever. (March 21, 2008)

THE WEEK IN GAY ANIMALS!
Via OMG blog, I learned about this ad on Petfinder.com looking for someone to adopt Big Daddy and Julius, two gay roosters. Said Jayna, the rooster's owner:

Deciding that they were not going to adhere to normative chicken social conventions Julius and Big Daddy have chosen one another as companions. Thus, against the odds, we are seeking a rooster-savvy home where they can stay together for the rest of their days. Big Daddy is Julius' protector, and at night he roosts over Julius like a mama hen sitting on a brood of chicks! Obviously the idea of separating these guys is just too heartbreaking to even consider!

If you have the space, love and time to keep these two special roosters please contact jayna at stustuzim@aol.com or call 818-830-8555.

Does GLAAD have an award for coolest animal owners ever?

Big Daddy, Julius

Greg Berlanti's ABC excellent dramedy Eli Stone hasn't yet featured any gay storylines yet (there was a pregnant lesbian storyline earlier this season), so I called up the network to see if there was anything coming up. Sure enough, there is an upcoming gay storyline, but the gay boys involved are more likely to go "Oooh ooohh oohh" and groom each other's fur than they are to obsess over Luke and Noah kissing, or Jack and Ianto kissing, or Kevin and Scotty kissing.

In the storyline, which airs on April 10th, Matt (Sam Jaeger) woos Taylor (Natasha Henstridge) by working on the case of two gay chimpanzees that have been separated from each other by their keepers.

BTW, we're offering no comment on whether that is actually the AfterElton.com Flying Monkey starring in the guest role. But I will say, I smell another GLAAD award coming our way.

Have you always thought there was something a little gay about guinea pigs? Yes, it's a gay stereotype, but they are neat, fastidious little creatures who remind me of Niles Crane. Well, in the new children's book Uncle Bobby's Wedding by Sarah Brannen, two gay guinea pigs do, in fact, tie the knot.
