News, Reviews & Commentary on Gay and Bisexual Men in Entertainment and the Media

Best. Gay. Week. Ever. (April 11, 2008)

TALK ABOUT AVOIDING THE PINK ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM
This week, Soap Opera Digest posted a brand new interview with As the World Turns' Van Hansis and Jake Silbermann that manages to avoid the word "gay" entirely.

True, Van and Jake mention attending the GLAAD awards, but even then it's never stated what GLAAD stands for. It's not as if every interview with the guys has to involve the gay issue, but given that they talk about chemistry, and Jake asking Van what to expect on the set the omission feels a little odd, but I suppose they're damned if they do and damned if they don't.

Oh, well, it's not like I read Soap Opera Digest for in-depth investigative reporting anyway. Wait — does that it make sound like I actually read soap magazine?

But at least things finally got at least a little steamy with Nuke on Thursday!

Be sure to check out Brian's liveblog of all the campy action.

If you'd like to read an interview with a soap opera actor who not only plays a gay character, but is gay himself, check out this article on Dennis Grabosch of Germany's All That Matters.

Speaking of German soaps, it seems like folks can't get enough of Christian and Olli on Forbidden Love. After AfterElton.com reader Wolfi first tipped me off about it, and we started posting the clips, Kenneth in the 212 followed suit as did Towleroad. As the World Turns better be careful or CBS might pick up that show instead. Bwa ha ha! As if!

Christian, Olli

I'm curious as to just how interested folks are in following a storyline in a language most of us can't even speak. So please take a moment to answer a couple of quick polls on the topic!
