News, Reviews & Commentary on Gay and Bisexual Men in Entertainment and the Media

Best. Gay. Week. Ever. (April 4, 2008)

IMHO — THIS WEEK IN GAY TV

Men in Trees: Given the lack of gay characters on broadcast television, it's not often that I wish one would die. And I'm not exactly saying that I hope Terri (Mario Cantone) dies while donating his kidney to the boring straight guy, but if these are the boring, trite storylines the show is going to give him, might we all not be better off he didn't wake up?

GREEK: "I don't even like cosmos, bitch!" That's what Calvin told his homophobic frat brother right before going after him like a gay Raging Bull. There's a lot to like about the new season of Greek — Calvin's storyline actually gets more than one scene, Heath is back, Calvin's homophobic frat brother gets booted for being a jerk.

TORCHWOOD: Keeping in mind my pledge of being warm and fuzzy, I'll just say it was nice to see Jack (John Barromwan) and Ianto hanging together most of the episode. It was even nicer to not see Jack mooning over Gwen.

TORCHWOOD: Every week Ianto (Gareth David-Lloyd) just gets cuter and more appealing. Almost makes me wish he'd drop that loser...er, I mean, gosh, I hope things work out with Jack!

AS THE WORLD TURNS: Yay, Noah told Ameera in no uncertain terms that it's Luke he loves, but don't go pushing Luke away like that, Noah! Don't you know there are a lot of Nuke fans out there ready to vent their frustrations on somebody? I also liked that he told Luke that no matter how cute he might think Casey is, he belongs to Noah. O-o-o-h, is someone getting a little possessive?

AS THE WORLD TURNS: Two arrows up for the Casey-pretending-to-be-gay storyline. I love Luke's confronting him over being so uptight about pretending to be gay. He just better keep an eye on Ameera who seems to be getting a little possessive herself.

AS THE WORLD TURNS: For someone who is married to someone else's man, living in someone else's house, eating someone else's food, and going to college on someone else's dime, Ameera has a lot of nerve whining that everyone else is getting what they want, except her. And what she wants seems to be a real marriage. Someone better shut up before they get a one-way ticket back to the green zone.

Get away from him you, bitch!

BEAUTY AND THE GEEK: I missed this week's ep, but Gregg survived so that's worth an up arrow! Go, Gaysian! Go, Gaysian!

BIG BROTHER 9: An up arrow for the vile Joshuah — have I lost my mind? It's because he finally got voted off and we no longer have to hear his embarrassing comments. Even better — he's sequestered so we can't interview him! Yay!

STEP IT UP AND DANCE: After watching the first episode, the word that first comes to mind is "meh". It's not bad, but it is really "been there, done that". Was anyone really surprised that the first challenge turned out to be at the party? And was it just me — or did that party look really cheap? Somebody here needs to step it up all right.
