Best. Gay. Week. Ever. (September 14, 2007)

Neil Patrick Harris dropped by Ellen yesterday where the two of them chatted about bringing significant others to the red carpets at various events. When asked by Ellen who he was bringing to the Emmys on Sunday night, Neil said it was his boyfriend, David Burtka. Woo hoo! Unlike past events where the two haven't been terribly eager to be photographed together, we should see them strolling happily together down the red carpet.

David "My-Life-is-an-Open-Book" Hyde Pierce also hit daytime television this week when he stopped by The View to chat with the ladies about all sorts of things. Well, not all sorts of things. We heard about his aching joints, learning to sing and dance for Curtains, his dislike of filming movies, and his very admirable work on behalf of Alzheimer's awareness. Alas, we didn't hear anything about his partner -- just like almost every other time he does press.

Today looks like it's going to be a big day for Nuke on ATWT.

Luke is becoming one of my favorite gay characters ever. I love how he's not afraid to tell Noah the truth about himself and is also not the least bit ashamed of who he is. Ja Rule must be spitting nails over this. Brian will be liveblogging today's ep over on the AfterElton.com blog. Check it out!

ATWT isn't the only show with a great teen storyline going on. Yes, Hollyoaks might only be available online at BBC America, but the storyline between J.P. and Craig is even more compelling than Nuke's right now. Noah and Maddie were only moving in together when she started getting suspicious. Imagine learning the truth at your engagement party!

Sunday is the Emmy's and as I mentioned, we'll be liveblogging all the spectacle and excess. Plus, Monday morning we'll cover all the winners and the losers as well.

Greek closed out it's freshman season by posting ABC Family's highest numbers ever for an episode. Rock on, dudes! We've got a rather long wait for the new season, but I do have some inside info on the first two eps of the second season. (Thanks, Kong!)

First, Calvin (Paul James) won't be the only out gay frat boy and, even better, he ends up in a tug-of-war between two different guys. Sweet!

Dale made it to the final five on Top Chef and I'm starting to think he's going to the final three (and that probably guaranteed he gets booted next week!) which for the first time will be a live broadcast. BTW, we won't have our TC recap until next week as Steven took a little time off.

Torchwood has a new ep on Saturday night and we'll have the recap first thing Monday morning. In case you missed the news, Torchwood posted record numbers for BBC America meaning this is one show that shouldn't disappear on viewers.

We got some nice news here at AfterElton.com this week. According to Score Media Metrix (the internet's Nielsen's ratings), Logo's (AfterElton.com's parent company) family of websites ranked number one in August in the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender segment. Woo hoo! Naturally, our thanks go to all of you folks who have fueled our growth at AfterElton.com which helped propel Logo to the top spot. We wouldn't be here without you!

Hmmm, will not thanking Jesus get this acceptance speech censored?

Finally, the fall season is right around the corner and we know the TV chatter is really going to pick-up. In addition to our usual assortment of articles and interviews about your favorite shows, we're adding Ugly Betty to our recaps, which joins Torchwood and Brothers & Sisters. In addition to the recaps, we're also going to be posting vlogs for both B&S and Ugly Betty, giving you yet another take on each episode. Knowing that the forums are going to get busy we're looking for moderators who would like to monitor discussions for each show. If you're interested, drop me a line at editor@afterelton.com and we'll get you set up!

Now I'll shut up so you can have the BEST.GAY.WEEK.EVER!

kathy incident....

er, that kathy griffin incident is interesting. i am not surprised she said what she said, but i CAN understand why it would offend people. religion is still soOoOoO sacred and well...saying suck it jesus? YIKES. i mean, jesus is a man everyone- er, alot of people worship and stuff. he's like.....man-oprah. can you imagine if someone told oprah to suck it? ohhh snaaap, watch out. ok, i am rambling. anyways, i understand why they censored it, but doesn't mean i agree. **hopes that made sense, but it probably didn't**

It kinda worked

to her advantage tho. Thanks to the controversy joke people who don't pay attention to award shows know that Griffin's show won an Emmy.

My, what a wonderful world

My, what a wonderful world we live in where people get censored for expressing their views (joking or other wise) and no one in charge questions it.  E can suck it!

Kathy finally won an emmy, why doesn't this feel like a victory?

I'm getting hooked to soap operas....

First ATWT, and now, after seeing the Hollyoaks clips, I want to go back and catch up on that story. Of course, now that I've seen the climax of that plot line, it may not be worth it... still... DRAMA!!!! (or should I say melodrama)

Excited

I'm happy for the site, and that it's doing so well.I'm also excited to hear about the additions being made to AfterElton. We're finally catching up to AfterEllen in that respect. It must be nice watching gay stuff on TV for your job, Michael.I'm always looking for gay stuff to watch and i'm on this site all the time, but I don't get paid for it.

Todd Herzog, the new gay guy for this season of Survivor, looks adorable.Brad Virata and JP were a couple of honies.Speaking of JP, I remember watching the episode of The Janis Dickinson modeling agency when he broke down when approached to be on the cover of Instinct. The editor of that magazine came in specifically looking for him.How did he know, or suspect JP was gay if he wasn't out?

Is there anything about Kevin's love interests in the Brothers & sisters' season DVD extras? That is to say, any interviews with Luke Mcfarlane, or Eric Winter, or Jason Lewis, or anything like that?

Kevin and the seaon one B&S DVD

Hey homoguy563 -- nothing specific about Kevin's love life in the bonus features on the Brothers & Sisters season one DVD boxed set - but there are some pretty cool extras nonetheless. First, there's a funny backstage tour by Matthew Rhys, Balthazar Getty and Dave Annable, and in one part Rhys and Annable jokingly start making out. Very cute. Another big bonus is they've included an entire unaired episode of the show. (It was supposed to run as the second episode of the series but ABC pulled it) We'll have a lot more to say about that lost episode this coming Tuesday.

Kathy Griffin on E!

I caught the tail-end of the Emmy telecast tonight on E!, and they included the whole "Jesus had nothing to do with it" and "this award is my god now" bits, but cut the "suck it, Jesus" part, which is understandable.

If anything, all the press this "scandal" got likely drew more people to watch the show tonight.
