James Bond Franchise Needs a Gay Touch

The James Bond franchise doesn't have the best track record when it comes to representations of gays and lesbians. You'd have to go back to the days of Sean Connery to even find a queer in a Bond film (Lesbian Pussy Galore in Goldfinger and the heinous gay henchmen Wint & Kidd from Diamonds are Forever.)

Since then, gays and lesbians have been conspicuously absent from the world of Bond.

Alas, the newest entry in the franchise, Casino Royale, does nothing to change the status quo.

Is it too much to hope that some day Bond will offer up a likeable gay supporting character? How about Bond benignly flirting with a Mr. Moneypenny. Or, even better, resident gadget expert "Q" could be reimagined and recast to play for our team.

Probably wishful thinking. For what it's worth, I highly enjoyed Casino Royale. At the very least, it offered some great eye candy in the form of Daniel Craig.
