Beyonce's gay uncle...

beyonce-pics.jpgWe all know Beyonce has a legion of gay fans. She's practically one apendage away from being a drag queen (have you seen the new video for her song Listen?), and with her upcoming role in Dreamgirls, she's sure to attract even more gay fans. What we didn't know was just how accepting she is of the gay community. In a recent article with gay magazine Instinct, she reveals that she had a very close relationship with her gay uncle, and that despite her strict religious upbringing, she's always embraced gay people. "I was raised by my uncle who passed away with Aids a couple of years ago. He was my mother's best friend. He brought me to school every day. He helped me buy my prom dress. He made my clothes with my mother. He was like my nanny. He was my favourite person in the whole world. I never mixed Christianity with how I felt (about him). I am about faith and spirituality more so than religion, doing right by others and not judging." She also said that she'd have no problem if she had a son who turned out to be gay. "(I'd say) I love him for the person he is with no expectations back." It's nice to hear such an influential young star say such positive things about gay people. I've always liked Beyonce, but I recently heard Beyonce's newest album B'Day, and I was blown away by her talent. She's growing up and using her voice to its best advantage on songs like Irreplacable and Listen. I'm really looking forward to seeing her in Dreamgirls. Until the movie comes out, here's the video for Listen (which was inspired by Dreamgirls) to tide you over:
