John Stamos in "Wedding Wars" this Monday

wedstamos.JPGI'm really looking forward to A&E's tv movie, The Wedding Wars, airing this Monday at 10:00 EST.

It stars John Stamos as a gay wedding planner who boycotts his brother's wedding to the daughter of a conservative governor in order to fight for his own right to marry the person he loves.

It's supposed to be a light comedy but there's a really great message tucked in there, and Stamos' sheer likeability quotient should win over at least a few red-state conservatives presently opposed to gay marriage.

Stamos was interviewed by The Advocate recently about the role and had this to say of his portrayal: "I didn't need to do any bullshit stereotype crap, not that I ever would have, but there was a great character there, gay or straight. I was surprised at how emotional the movie was."

All I can say is good for John Stamos, he seems like a class act.

Rounding out the cast are James Brolin as the conservative Governor, Sean Maher as Stamos' partner, and Grey's Anatomy's "McSteamy," Eric Dane as Stamos' brother. The director is Jim Fall, who was also responsible for the gay indie flick, Trick.
