Thanks LA Times! Articles like this keep us in business.

niptuck.jpgThis article from the Los Angeles Times happened to catch my eye, as I'm always interested in the mainstream media's take on gay content. Times reporter Maria Elena Fernandez pens a fairly in depth look at the past season of Nip/Tuck. In the course of looking back over what happened this season, she covers the birth of Sean's (Dylan Walsh) handicapped child, the show's look at Scientology, Julia (Joely Richardson) and Sean's divorce, the death of the surgery addicted Mrs. Grubman, and, well, pretty much most everything else that happened. She even mentions Sean's turn as a ventriloquist's dummy. Guess what doesn't get mentioned? Christian's (Julian McMahon) questioning whether he is gay and in love with Sean. I exaggerate when I say the article mentioned everything that happened on Nip/Tuck. Given the crazy antics on the show that is pretty much impossible. But the Christian/Sean storyline was a big part of the season, and involved both of the show's main characters, one of whom underwent a pretty intense psychological journey. You'd think it would rate at least a mention. blind.jpgI've no idea at all why Ms. Fernandez excluded Christian's storyline. Given it's the Los Angeles Times, it's rather doubtful there is an anti-gay bias. It's probably more of a blind spot than anything else. Still, I have to say thanks to Ms. Fernandez for doing her part to keep me employed!
