GLAAD Announces Media Awards Nominations

VForVendetta.jpgSundance isn't all just swag and bidding wars -- yesterday GLAAD took the opportunity to announce the nominees and special honorees for their 18th annual media awards from Park City. Nominees include hit indie films Little Miss Sunshine, Shortbus and Quinceañera, the blockbusters Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby and V for Vendetta, ABC's Brothers & Sisters and Ugly Betty, NBC's hit sitcom The Office, the episodes "Where the Boys Are" from Grey's Anatomy and "Blind Date" from 30 Rock, Project Runway, Nightline, CosmoGIRL!, two episodes of The Tyra Banks Show, musical acts Peaches and Scissor Sisters, and stage shows The History Boys and The Little Dog Laughed. Our favorite nomination just might be the "Forever Blue" episode of Cold Case about which we raved so much. Of this year's nominees GLAAD President Neil G. Giuliano said:
These bold projects, images and voices have once again raised the bar for excellence in media representations of our lives. As we continue to fight against forces that threaten our progress toward equality, it's gratifying to be able to celebrate the creative accomplishments of those who are committed to sharing the truth of our lives and our stories.

The Awards ceremonies themselves will be held in four cities over the course of several months, and will be broadcast on Logo for the third consecutive year.
