Call it Degrassi: U.K. Or should that be Degrassi: O.C.?

Here is a YouTube clip of yet another new British show with gay content. Called Skins, the show follows a group of teens from Bristol. Unless I'm sorely mistaken, Bristol is no Orange County. Then again, there probably isn't actually an equivalent to Orange County in Britain. The gay character here is Maxxie (Mitch Hewer) and he is introduced at the end of the clip as being an enigma who is "everybody's and nobody's friend." Uh oh. Looks like we've got another angst-y teen here. But a visit to the Skins website reveals that isn't quite the case. Maxxie's page includes the quotes:

I'm Maxxie. I just started at Roundview College, which is wicked. I like toast. I like boys. I like Arcade Fire. I like drawing. I like performing. I like dancing. I want to meet Johnny Depp. I want to meet Nigel Reo-Coker. I really, really, really want to meet Ron from Harry Potter... (don't ask!!!)

The show only just debuted in the UK so we'll have to wait to see how Maxxie's storyline plays out, but I appreciate the fact they aren't being coy about his sexuality. If anyone in the UK is watching Skins be sure to let us know what you think.
