The Passion that Dare Not Speak Its Name

So here's some good news for you Passions lovers: the show that brought us vampires, martini-shaking living dolls, witches, and just about anything else you wouldn't normally associate with a daytime soap is getting its gay on. In tomorrow's episode, Chad (played by Charles Divins) will be revealed to be having an affair with -- gasp -- a man! Now, this is interesting news, of course. But given that just a few months ago it was announced that Passions was being canceled, it does make one wonder if this is more of a fire-sale situation than anything else. Heck, if the show's dead in the water anyway, why not have a character come out as gay? Or an alien? Or Rose Kennedy in disguise? Sad thing is, they could pretty much do anything on this show and it would hardly raise an eyebrow -- it's been patently ridiculous from the get-go. Unlike Days, which has always been, like, totally realistic...
