Cute with Chris

Alright, since it's Friday and the day seems to be all about confessions (from the Passions reveal to Gideon Glick's coming out), I'm going to come clean on my new Internet crush: the webshow Cute with Chris. Now, despite being spread-on-a-biscuit adorable himself, host Chris Leavins is NOT the "cute" in Cute with Chris. Rather, the show is dedicated to showcasing the cutest animals from around the world, from beer-drinking squirrels to kittens in Pop-Tart boxes. Alright, he also interviews people and talks about current events and reads viewer mail -- some of it from gay men demanding shirtless pictures of Jonathan Togo from CSI: Miami. But each show ends with a CuteDown, where two animals are pitted head-to-head -- viewers can vote for the cutest on the show's blog. Here's an example of an episode featuring Jake Gyllenhaal, babies dressed as hamburgers, and a cat with a fake moustache: Sickeningly adorable? It could be, but Toronto-based Leavins is having so much fun that it doesn't get too precious (I don't actually see how that's possible, but it's true). And special reports like Chris's hilarious (and impressively edited) beat-box video and in-depth study of the cat vs. Christmas tree standoff (complete with the indelible image of a cat vomiting on a Christmas ornament) add some nice variety. It's Friday -- give yourself a break and spend a few minutes checking it out. Your inner kitten will thank you for it.
