Brian Austin Green to play gay News just broke that a Kohan and Mutchnick pilot project that focuses on two writers, one straight and one gay, has added three new cast members. In the role of the gay writer is Brian Austin Green, and two of the women he works with will include Jessica Capshaw and Vanessa Lengies. The pilot (ordered by CBS) is still untitled -- how about Two Girls, a Guy, and Brian Austin Green as a Homosexual?
Kohan and Mutchnick are the guys who brought us Will and Grace, and it's great to see that they're still out there pushing for gay characters on the small screen. Green, of course, is best known for his stalkery (and ultimately successful) courting of Donna Martin as David Silver on Beverly Hills 90210 -- and least known for his failed attempt at a rap career.
Here's a touching scene from 90210 where David confesses his meth addiction:
I know lots of fellas who crushed hard on Green back in his 90210 days -- and as you can see in the above pic, he's outgrown a myriad of bad hairstyles and a closetful of Z. Cavaricci fashions to become quite the handsome devil. Let's just hope that if the show gets picked up they don't camp him up too much. Or let him do meth. Or rap.

Aiiight!
Still no gay actors good enough to play gay roles.
Eww isn't he the one who tried to be a rapper???
That hardly narrows it down, FGH.
I think Brian's kinda cute. And on the short-lived sitcom "Freddie", he was actually very funny.
Gay actors play gay roles? What is this, the UK?
:)
B.A.G. does have a certain appeal and actually is not too bad of an actor.
I agree with the above...why not give a gay actor a shot at stardom?
I don't think there's anything wrong with straights playing gays, aslong as it's believable. And aslong as gays get to play the straight leads aswell, now there's breaking more stereotypes.
I can't wait for this Kohan and Mutchnick project...it's bound to be good.
Ditto on what Jason said. I think people seem to miss the point that gay actors aren't necessarily interested in being typecast as "the gay actor" no more than African American actors want to play the "black" role. They want good roles at least from the one's I talk to. Most of which are going to be straight roles. I would like to get to a point where we can have a gay character who isn't there to be the gay character. I think if you have more of those types of shows and films, you will see a lot more actors regardless of personal orientation wanting to take on those roles.
