George Takei on Star Trek: New Voyages

We just got word that the next installment of the completely fan-made online series Star Trek: New Voyages (which we wrote about a few weeks back) features a special appearance by Sulu himself, gay actor George Takei. The preview below of the episode, titled "World Enough and Time", shows a Sulu that returns from the future looking quite butch, if not a bit Road Warrior: If you like what you see (and really, how can you not?) you can download the episode at the official site, which pledges to finish the Enterprise's "five-year mission" (which in reality only lasted three). And for your print-and-cut enjoyment, here's a stunning lobby card of Sulu, both past and future: This whole project is just awesome. It's so great to see fans who love and respect something so much that they flat-out refuse to let it die. I highly doubt anyone will be doing the same for Everybody Loves Raymond in 40 years.
