Neil Patrick Harris makes EW's Top 25 for 2008
Entertainment Weekly has announced its annual list of the 25 Entertainers of the Year — and Neil Patrick Harris makes the cut. More after the break!
Once Halloween is over, you can count on two things: Christmas decorations at the mall and "best of the year" lists in magazines. Entertainment Weekly has just posted its annual 25 Entertainers of the Year list online, and kicking things off at #25 is the exceedingly talented card-carrying queer Neil Patrick Harris. Citing his scene-stealing work on the sitcom How I Met Your Mother (above), the movie Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay and Joss Whedon's hit web series Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, EW's Whitney Pastorek writes, "By year's end, the 35-year-old had pulled off quite the trick: making the last remaining novelties of his Doogie childhood vanish as he blossomed into a versatile collaborator and an incredibly funny man."
What's perhaps most notable about Pastorek's blurb on NPH is that his sexuality isn't mentioned anywhere. And that's a promising sign for observers waiting for the day when actors can be openly gay without having to always be referred to as such. Submitted by on Fri, 2008-11-14 08:36. |

Well it's not promising to me
He has done what many thought was impossible
I have always adored Neil Patrick Harris, but I am continually amazed at what he has been able to accomplish.
For years, many of us have doubted the ability of an openly gay actor to succeed in Hollywood as well as not get typecast as playing gay roles for the rest of their life. Not only has his coming out of the closet not affected his career in a negative way, but it actually seems like it's helped his career prosper.
While there aren't many hopeful signs regarding openly gay people in front of the camera, Mr. Harris has definitely been a great beacon of light in the area and I can't wait for what he'll do next.
Indeed "Openly Gay" was supposed to be the Third Rail
I'm an accountant.people don't refer me as the "gay" accountant
That's quite a high pedestal
