New on DVD: Kathy Griffin will, indeed, cut a bitch

The ring-a-ding redhead's Emmy-nominated comedy special hits DVD, as does an Oscar front-runner and Nine's way-better inspiration.

Read on for more!

Kathy Griffin: She'll Cut a Bitch pits the star of Bravo's My Life on the D-List against a new cadre of celebs who had it coming. She delivers the dish from backstage at the Emmy and Grammy awards, and the DVD features unaired footage from the evening. (And no network bleeping!)

You are so not ready for the Oscars this year until you watch The Hurt Locker, Kathryn Bigelow's riveting, ground-level , portrait of soldiers fighting the war in Iraq. Jeremy Renner gives an extraordinary performance as an adrenaline junkie who defuses IEDs in areas where soldiers can be shot as easily as they can be blown up. This one's must viewing.

Also out this week is the lame-o Fame remake from 2009, featuring a character so very gay-vague that even the actor and director couldn't agree on whether or not he was a 'mo. That turns out to be the least of the problems for this turgid yawner.

From the Because They're Gay Department: Sir Ian McKellen tells you everything you need to know about Acting Shakespeare, Alec Mapa and Jane Lynch steal scenes in their second-banana roles in the queer teen dramedy Tru Loved, and Universe of Keith Haring immerses us in the life of the legendary 1980s graphic artist.

Finally, if you're still trying to get the bad taste of Nine out of your mouth, go back to the original, Federico Fellini's legendary 8 1/2, available for the first time on Blu-Ray. It remains one of the greatest movies ever made, and I say that without a scintilla of hyperbole.
