TV Cancellation-Watch List
TV By the Numbers argues that what gets a scripted broadcast network show canceled is its
rating in the 18-49 demo (the rules are different for
non-scripted shows, which have lower production costs). Numbers divides
a show’s season-to-date rating in the key demo by the network average
to determine a Renew/Cancel Index. Here are the shows of gay interest with that
index, in the order they are likely to be canceled by the end of the year, from most
likely to least likely:
The following shows are likely to be canceled soon:
1. Pushing Daisies, ABC (.65)
2. Dirty Sexy Money, ABC (.69)
3. Lipstick Jungle, NBC (.73)
4. Privileged, CW (.88)
The following shows are unlikely to be
canceled:
5. Ugly Betty, ABC (.92)
6. My Name is Earl, NBC (.98)
7. Brothers & Sisters, ABC (1.23)
8. How I Met Your Mother, CBS (1.26)
9. Gossip Girl, CW (1.51)
10. Desperate Housewives, ABC (1.98)

Top Rated Gay-Related TV Shows
(in total viewers, according to Nielsen)
1 Dancing with the Stars, ABC (18.9 Monday, 17.4 Tuesday, up 4%)
2. Desperate Housewives, ABC (16 million, up .6%)
3. Survivor: Gabon, CBS (13 million, down 2%)
4. Brothers & Sisters, ABC (9.6 million, up 3%)
5. Ugly Betty, ABC (8.6 million, down 3%)
6. Lipstick Jungle, NBC (4.9 million, up 12%)
7. Privileged, CW (1.9, up 20%)
Ratings remain steady for
Desperate Housewives, which this week saw the return of one barely-there gay neighbor, Lee, while the mostly-Kevin-free
Brothers & Sisters was up slightly as well.
Lipstick Jungle, with the adorable
Matt Lauria playing Victory‘s gay assistant,
picked up viewers in its first Friday outing, but still looks headed for the chopping block.
Inexplicably, the ratings for Privileged, with Allan Louis as a character-less gay sounding board, are up as well.

Save PUSHING DAISIES!!!
"Pushing Daisies" is a great show.
The writer's strike screwed it over. It took all the wind out of its sails and people forgot about it for a while. It's hard to overcome a setback like that.
Crap on a cracker.

Noooo Not pushing Daisies !
Please please please ! That show just makes my day brighter everytime I see it ! Anytime I feel a bit down I watch an episode and it's all better after that !
It's always the best shows that are cancelled too fast.
Pushing Daisies A Matter of Taste...
A year ago, I would have been up in arms about Pushing Daisies being considered for cancellation. Absolutely loved the beginning of the series last season, but after viewing the first episode of Season 2, I said, "That's it. No more."
The premise has grown old, stale and utterly predictable to me, the show having become little more than incomprehensible jabberwock.
I hope it stays on for those who like it, even if I don't care myself. The other shows on the list are even worse.
