SAG's LGBT caucus sets another date

It was announced a while back that the Screen Actors Guild (better known as SAG, one of my favorite acronyms) had built an LGBT caucus to address needs and concerns specific to the union's gay membership. We were all over it.

It was recently announced that the East Coast branch of the caucus has set a date for its first meeting (April 11th). The Hollywood branch of the group met in February, and it was reported that over 100 GLBT members showed up for the inaugural meeting. Not bad!

It goes without saying that groups like this are invaluable in combating discrimination in the workplace and promoting visibility within the union -- especially in a time where gay slurs and "outed" celebrities are front-page entertainment news. The group is headed by Jason Stuart, a television vet who has appeared in shows like Will & Grace, House, and George Lopez.

If you're in SAG and gay, we of course hope that you'll participate -- and then drop us a note on what was discussed!
