A "mango" is a fruit, right? "Dancing With the Stars" has its first man-man danceOn last night's Dancing With the Stars, Steve Guttenberg and Jonathan Roberts danced the "mango" together, as Guttenberg's regular partner was out. The two played it mostly "straight", with some jokey macho posturing at the end. I'll be damned if I can tell who was leading, but the audience ate it up. To add to the camp value, pint-sized pop star Kylie Minogue was also on hand to perform two numbers. What, did they let Bruno direct this week's episode? (Thanks to oodles of tippers for emailing us about this one, including QueerTwoCents, who had the video up.) Submitted by on Wed, 2008-04-02 07:58. |

I did not get this at

"It takes a village (to make Village People)"
So he's got two left feet. So sue him. This almost (al-most) makes up for the disastrous "P.S. Your Cat is Dead." Gutenberg's heart always seems to be in the right place. If he could only place his feet accordingly.
P.S. Your Footwork is Dead
Audience Reaction
I was pleasantly surprised as to how well the audience took to the "mango." The women seemed to eat it up. I guess straight women are as...enthusiastic about guy-guy pairings as straight guys are about girl-girl ones.
Now if only that dipweed Adam Corolla would get voted off...
This disappoints me
Campy Ham
exactly
Thanks Brent, you kinda said what I was thinking as I watched it. it could have been played, even comically, to a degree much better than the resulting performance. Jonathan hammed it up for the cameras in the rehearsal footage, as well as during the performance, which - perhaps was only to reaffirm how heterosexual he apparently is (he's married, who know? okay, i admit it's wrong to stereotype him as being gay just cos he's a dancer, my bad). Anyway, the final result just left me feeling akward. I didn't find it funny in the least, had he not tried to play it as girly as he did, I would have enjoyed it much more.
Regardless, damn Mel B for getting me hooked on this show!
Four words....
Can't stop the movie...
The story behind the making of Can't Stop the Movie (The uber gay film's nickname when they were making it at MGM) is far funnier than its own unintentional humor The four hours of outtakes shot with the absence of director Nancy Walker, managed by Allan Carr, from the set while the cameras rolled in the YMCA number, shower scene. The endless stories are great for pushing a dinner party way past midnight.
